Not every idea is a good one. Not every idea is a realistic one, either. I'd love if you could keep both of those things in mind as you keep reading. OK, that's all.
In case you didn't know, it's officially trade deadline szn. Between now and the NFL's trade deadline on November 5, there's going to be a constant stream of Twitter accounts you've never heard of pretending to break news on trades they know about because their friend works in the team's marketing department.
Super Bowl contenders are going to be looking for that very last piece that can get them over the edge, and the New York Jets are doing whatever the New York Jets are doing.
The Packers figure to be one of the teams that gets mentioned a fair amount in different trade ideas over the next two weeks, and actually, it's already happening. And who knows if the Packers are actually going to have it in them to make a major move, but if they do, there is absolutely one crazy enough to work
Maxx Crosby – the same Maxx Crosby who everyone in Las Vegas is sure won't be traded – may get traded. Crosby's long denied any interest in leaving, and Mark Davis told The Athletic recently that it's not happening. Still, considering how the Davante Adams stuff played out, it's hard not to imagine a world where Crosby's next. He even sounds like he's warming up to the idea.
How about this quote from Crosby?
"I'm not here to rebuild, I'm here to win," Crosby said via ProFootballTalk. "So, you know, I don't know. Whatever that means, but yeah I'm here to win now. And wherever I'm gonna be, I’m gonna here to win. So that’s all that matters to me."
Ohhhhhh. That sure reads like Crosby's at least theoretically open to the idea of leaving Vegas sometime in the next two weeks.
He's a popular pick to replace Aidan Hutchinson in Detroit, but what if ... he didn't? What if, instead, he joined the Packers?! That'd be terrific. Their struggling pass-rush unit could certainly use the help.
And while it doesn't totally feel like Brian Gutekunst's MO, there is some precedent – he did try and take a big swing for Khalil Mack back in the day. So, anything's possible! Will it happen? Probably not. Should it happen? Otherwise he's going to the Lions, so yeah, it should. The NFC North is about to be an absolute beast for the final two months of the season, so the Packers might as well trade for an absolute beast right before it starts.
