The Golden Bachelorette: 8 Signs Joan's Prince Charming Chock Chapple Might Turn Into Her Worst Nightmare (Is He A Villain In Disguise?)- SPOILERS

The Golden Bachelorette star Joan Vassos was like Sleeping Beauty before Chock Chapple awakened her, but this fairytale in progress may have an unhappy ending. Joan lost her husband - while she grieved, she probably felt like the romantic in her had also died. The most exciting elements of love, from physical desire to anticipation and beyond, may have been out of reach for years, as though covered in a thick frost. Now, that long, sad winter is ending. Gerry Turner didn't give Joan what she needed, so she's trying again. Will it really be different this time? Perhaps not.

To be the Golden Bachelorette is to be vulnerable. Joan is the prize, but she's also a target. Yes, there could be a true prince in the mix - a man with honor... a romantic... a witty and exciting person. However, there could also be villains, as no fairytale is ever without them.

A typical fairytale villain will do all that they can to steal another person's happiness - it is their mission to destroy the beauty that they see. If Chock is a villain in disguise, he may not light up the life of the sincere and sensitive princess that is Joan. Instead, he may bring more darkness into a life where a lot of rain has already fallen.

8Chock May Still Love His Late Fiancée

Maybe He Won't Be Able To Really Give His Heart

Guardian fairies protected Princess Aurora from Maleficent, using their powerful magic to save her from certain death. Instead of dying, she slept. Prince Phillip woke her up. If Chock turns out to be a villain rather than a hero, who will save Joan? Well, she will have to save herself. She probably feels like she's had enough character building already. This princess wants a real fairy tale - not another way of showing her strength and grit to the world.

There is always the chance that Chock will play the villain eventually, without even meaning to, simply because he's still in love with the fiancée that he lost. If she was his great love, he might not be content with anyone else. Everything else may pale in comparison. If this happens, and Joan is rumored to choose Chock on the show, based on spoilers from Reality Steve, she may live to regret her choice.

Chock lost Katherine Elizabeth White Goree after a nine-year engagement. In 2022, he began to grieve his terrible loss. Yes, this man has suffered too, and that's actually one of the reasons why he may not be Joan's perfect man. It's possible that he experienced a fairytale love already, and misses what he had. This might stop him from really giving his heart to someone else.

7Chock May Be A Clout Chaser

Is This "Fairytale Prince" All About The 'Gram?

Chock has many great qualities, just like a true "Prince" should have - he loves his children (their names are Taylor and Tyler Chapple), enjoys hanging out with his friends, and even makes chicken soup from scratch (well, almost from scratch). In many ways, Chock's a great catch, but he may be aware of that. In the Instagram post shown above, Chock told his followers that he

"cleans up nicely."

This kind of attention-seeking isn't really wrong. He put on a nice suit and wanted to show off his outfit of the day. However, it does show the glimmers of a "healthy" ego. Disney princes are humble people. In the real world, the allure of social media can begin to affect a person, warping their mindset and ego. They may crave more likes and more comments - it can snowball out of control. If it does, the person may do almost anything for clout... including appearing on The Golden Bachelorette season 1.

6Chock May Be Too Controlling

He Always Wants To Be Close To Her

In the Thegoldenbacheloretteabc clip shown above, as per Instagram, Joan doesn't seem to mind Chock staying so close to her at the bowling alley. This mature princess might actually enjoy it. However, in the future, his desire to be near her at all times may make her feel smothered. Everyone needs a little space. In the first flush of romance, that kind of closeness can be intoxicating, but later on, the magic may really wane.

When it does, what was once so sweet and enjoyable may become cloying.

Online, people have noticed that Chock is zeroing on his princess, and doing all that he can to remain by her side. Some of them consider that kind of conduct "controlling," including a Redditor who commented in a thread started by 222nessc. This angry social media user doesn't seem to appreciate the well-to-do man's charms. In fact, they seem to think he's already a fairy tale villain. That critic wrote:

Chock is creepy, possessive, controlling and somehow always slightly sweaty. He’s basically gaslighting her under a facade into a relationship.

Is the Redditor going too far, or could it be true? They don't like Chock, clearly getting a very bad feeling about him... some visceral warning that he's not a good person. Maybe that impression is accurate - maybe it's way off base.

It's too soon to call, but there may be a grain of truth to the fact that Chock is controlling. Another Redditor on the same thread explained that The Golden Bachelorette's Chock Chapple's used to closing deals - they called him a "closer" and defended him, saying he was using the same tactics that helped him to sell insurance to win Joan's heart. They were basically saying that Chock was just being himself and doing what he does. Hopefully, there isn't any underlying menace to what he's doing - he should want to enjoy Joan's personality without controlling her.

5Chock May Lose Interest In Joan

Maybe She Will Begin To Bore Him

Chock is smitten with his princess right now, but maybe he won't be for very long. Remember Gerry from The Golden Bachelor? He used to play Romeo so well. However, when the rubber met the road, he wasn't for real. He wouldn't even change cities to be with Theresa Nist. Who's to say it'll be any different for Chock? He might decide that the sacrifices he has to make just aren't worth the price he has to pay. That could happen at any moment.

If he's a true prince, he'll stick it out, but reality TV men don't do that too often. There are so many breakups. This is why Joan should beware. People may want to push her into a wedding, but she should listen to her gut. If she doesn't feel ready, she shouldn't move forward. Yes, these two are older, but there's no rush. They barely know one another. Joan needs more proof that Chock is really Prince Charming. Who he is while the cameras roll may not be what she hoped for.

4Chock May Be A Producer Plant

Was He Hand-Picked To Save The Franchise's Reputation?

Chock may have been brought in because producers believed that he had the best chance of winning Joan's heart. They may have looked at him closely, searching for things that would bind the two together. These commonalities would boost the odds of compatibility. After Gerry and Theresa split up just three months after marrying, the franchise took a hit. The Golden Bachelor was hugely successful, and the divorce definitely tarnished the brand. Viewers didn't get the fairy tale they wanted

If Chock's a producer plant, he may be pressured into wooing Joan with a vengeance, even if his heart's not really in it. He may feel like has to deliver a wedding. Since he's so goal-oriented, and used to selling himself, he may be focused on achieving the goal of marrying Joan even though he's not truly in love with her. In that case, he could be a wolf in sheep's clothing.

3Chock Could Be Faking His Love For Joan

He Might Be Playing Her

Joan seems to think that Chock is a prince - she's falling for his lines and likes the way he does things. She's attracted to him. However, it's very possible that he's playing a role, just like Gerry did. While he surely loved his late fiancée, he never actually married her. They were endlessly engaged. That's not particularly romantic. Most women, and there may be exceptions, do not want to remain engaged for nine years. They want to buy pretty bridal gowns and enjoy their weddings with their families and friends.

So, the notion of the nine-year engagement is concerning. There may be some explanation for it, but it seems like Chock didn't really want to get married. It seems like he tried to avoid a wedding. That doesn't fit with the romantic image that a Golden Bachelorette suitor should have. To be a real prince, he'd need to put the woman first. It would be all about her. If Chock's faking his love for whatever reason, he might really hurt Joan.

2Chock May Get Sick Of Fame

It Has A Downside

Onscreen, it was all sunshine and roses when Joan and Chock enjoyed a fun date - they had a blast on a roller coaster, as seen in the Bachelor Nation at YouTube clip shown above. However, Chock may not always enjoy his fame (and Joan) as much as he does now. Fans are already attacking him for being controlling, as mentioned previously.

Every time he does something that viewers don't like, they're going to tear him apart. After a while, that type of cyberbullying (perhaps that's too strong of a term) gets really monotonous. A person may prefer life before fame because some trolls get most of their excitement from being keyboard warriors. Chock might be upset by what they say, or bored by it - overall, he might find that private life has more appeal. If so, he may drift away from Joan, as she is linked with his fame.

1Chock Might Find That Starting Over With A New Wife Isn't Easy

Marriage Is Harder Than It Looks

The odds of divorcing are quite high - for even the most compatible people, a good marriage requires plenty of work. It's not an easy thing to stay happily married for years, much less decades. What's interesting is that the odds of a second marriage failing are even higher than the odds of a divorce the first time around. So, those who appear on golden years-themed dating shows may find that the odds aren't in their favor. What's the divorce rate in the USA for second marriages? As per Petrelli Previtara, a whopping 60 to 67 percent!

He doesn't even have to be a traditional "bad guy" to be the villain in this fairy tale. He just has to surrender to some pretty harsh odds, and he might. With so many second marriages ending in divorce, he's more likely to fail than succeed. The Golden Bachelorette's Chock has his work cut out for him, and if he lets Joan down, he may be painted as the villain forever, just like Gerry has been.
