Rick Dhaliwal of Donnie & Dhali has provided a positive update on Vancouver Canucks goaltender Thatcher Demko.

The Vancouver Canucks are set to open training camp in nearly two weeks. On Tuesday, insider Rick Dhaliwal gave an update on the team's goaltending situation, including the status of Thatcher Demko.

In a video posted to social media today, Dhaliwal said that Thatcher Demko has resumed skating and is working out on the ice this week. This is massive news for the Canucks, as it was unclear when he'd be back on the ice, with a report last month saying he'd miss training camp and preseason games.

"Some good news. Thatcher Demko is back skating and working out on the ice this week. That's a very good sign." Dhaliwal said.

Dhaliwal went on to mention in his video that the Canucks are continuing to pursue free-agent goaltender Kevin Lankinen and have even made him a contract offer. Still, it hasn't been good enough to get a deal done so far.

As for Arturs Silovs, who is dealing with knee ligament inflammation, Dhaliwal says that he's travelling back to Canada from Latvia and will get checked out by Canucks doctors upon his return to Vancouver. Dhaliwal added that Silovs' injury is not expected to be serious, which is great news for Rick Tocchet and the coaching staff.

The Vancouver Canucks will open up their preseason schedule with back-to-back games on the road, first up in Seattle on September 24th and then in Calgary on September 25th. If healthy, there's a good chance we could see Arturs Silovs in one of those games.
