RHOC fans puzzled by 'fake' and 'unnecessary final scene with Shannon Beador

Bravo's Real Housewives of Orange County closed out its 18th season on Thursday with Part 3 of the Reunion special, which had quite the unique twist.

A major focal point of this season was the aftermath of Shannon Beador's DUI accident, which the 60-year-old Beador has consistently said she doesn't remember much of the incident.

One of the biggest points of contention surrounding the accident is whether or not her then-boyfriend John Janssen - who is now dating RHOC 'friend' Alexis Bellino - actually heard the accident or not.

The reunion special came to an end on Thursday, though earlier than some expected, with Beador and Tamra Judge finally mending their fences though Beador and Bellino are still very much at odds.

With roughly 10 minutes left, the reunion cut to "36 hours later" when several of the ladies reconvened with information some had for months - that John did in fact hear the accident - with the scene itself - and Janssen himself - not sitting right with fans.

Emily Simpson welcomed Beador, Gina Kirschenheiter, Heather Dubrow and Tamra Judge to her home, though Jenn Pedranti, Katie Ginella and, of course, Alexis, were not present.

Heather revealed that at the finale dinner - some four months earlier - that the incident came up in conversation, with Heather insisting Shannon was not, 'the topic of conversation all night.'

'John said, "Oh I heard the crash." Tamra and I both went, "What the f**k? What are you talking about?"'

Shannon revealed that Heather and Tamra told her this information the night earlier, after Reunion Part 3, though they were sitting on that information for months.

'When you mentioned that to me last night, I went numb,' Shannon said, admitting she thought she'd never know the answer to that.

Heather asked if she shouldn't have told her but Gina insisted, 'You did the right thing.'

Tamra arrived and Emily asked for more specifics and Tamra obliged saying, 'He said when he heard the crash, he went to go run for you but his daughter said, "No, dad, this isn't good. You guys are fighting. I'm gonna go look." And she went around the corner and said you were pulling off."

Tamra admitted that, 'our mouths dropped' when John said that, contradicting the belief many had that he didn't hear the crash.

Tamra added, 'He said there was an altercation between you and him,' as Shannon said, 'Yeah, I've heard that he says I punched him, but I don't remember everything.'

It was seemingly this altercation that John and Alexis alluded to in the 'videos' that were spoken about, as Shannon broke down in tears.

Gina said, 'If you did something bad on the videos, you're gonna take responsibility for what you did, just like you took responsibility for what you did that night. It doesn't make you a terrible person.'

The whole group supported Shannon as they talked about friends therapy for Tamra and Shannon as they continued to mend their fences as the season came to an end.

Many fans were left confused and annoyed by the seemingly extraneous scene, including @KittyChew, who said, 'I don't understand. What's the big deal with this revelation?'

@amityf added, 'Is the point of this just to set up the next season with Tamra/Shannon come back as besties?'

@soIarsavy asked, 'So what was the point of this?' This was the question that seemingly many RHOC fans had on their minds on Thursday.

@_loveRachel_ insisted, 'This scene could've stayed in the drafts,' while @budandbravo added, 'This little extension was unnecessary and fake ash.'

Others like @EmilyMockler1 thought the scene was to get Tamra and Heather back in the good graces of fans.

'Well you can tell Tamra and Heather has received the backlash from fans before they filmed this scene. Totally different take on things,' Emily said.

@reality_fiend added, 'This seems like the Heather and Tamra saw everyone loving Shannon and hating on them so they're trying to save their a**.'

Others agreed like @TheCapricornSp1, who said, 'Look at the two with no story line wanting to secure they spot with this story about John. I'm like huh that's it you knew that at the reunion and didn't.'

@AllAboutTRH added, 'Heather and Tamra trying to win back the audience in the last 5 minutes.'

@sunsetzzzz11 said, 'This is so manipulative. THIS y'all didn't remember at the reunion???'

@KellyV99297489 said, 'That last scene was Tamra's last ditch effort to save her reputation and lame podcast. Can't handle the hate.'

@_helluvalife said, 'Tamra knows her time is up, that's why she apologized. Jen clocked it.'

Shannon Beador gives a cryptic response amid drinking scandal
@RealityTVU said, 'Alexis said on camera that John Janssen was planning to release the videos of Shannon. Now he's lying and saying he wasn't because he must have been told that it's a crime.'

While the videos were a hot topic of discussion at the reunion, it's still unclear who took them.

Just last week, Shannon paid the $75K she owed her ex John Janssen, putting an end to their ugly legal battle.

Alexis did hint earlier in the reunion that her wedding to John will happen at some point in 2025, though no date was revealed.
