The Green Bay Packers recently brought in former Washington Commanders linebacker Jamin Davis to their practice squad. While he brought some intrigue with him, he never saw the field with the Packers.
Ahead of Week 13 NFL action, Green Bay has seen Davis head off to a new team.
According to a report shared by Matt Schneidman of The Athletic, the Minnesota Vikings have claimed Davis off of the Packers’ practice squad.
When the Green Bay Packers originally brought Davis onboard, there were some intrigued by his athleticism and potential to be a pass-rusher. Obviously, he wasn’t a guy that the Packers felt could make an impact right off the bat.
It has become a normal occurrence to see the Vikings poach players from Green Bay. They have signed practice squad players and free agents who previously played for the Packers.
Davis is a 25-year-old linebacker who was originally the No. 19 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. He has shown flashes of big-time potential, but consistency has been an issue for him.
Throughout his NFL career to this point, Davis has played in 50 total games. He has racked up 282 total tackles to go along with seven sacks, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, an interception, and six defended passes.
Those numbers show that Davis has the potential to be a quality NFL linebacker. It will be interesting to see if Minnesota can get that talent out of him.
Of course, all Green Bay Packers fans will be hoping that the Vikings can’t develop him successfully.
All of that being said, this isn’t a huge move, but it ends the idea that Davis could become a potential contributor for the Packers down the stretch of the season. Hopefully, this move doesn’t come back to bite Green Bay later in the year.
