Josh Jacobs confirms suspicion about what he thinks of the Packers' huge game against the Lions

Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs (8) celebrates after a long reception and run in the fourth quarter against the Miami Dolphins during their football game Thursday, November 28, 2024, at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin

Josh Jacobs has had at least 20 touches in six of the last eight games. That included 49 combined touches over five days against the San Francisco 49ers and Miami Dolphins. The running back has been a star, and an extremely valuable piece of the Green Bay Packers' offense in 2024.

On Thursday, it's a big game and a big individual challenge for Jacobs. The Detroit Lions' defense is fourth in EPA/play and third in success rate against the run. Based on how the Packers want to play, his performance is a big factor.

And Josh Jacobs is ready for the challenge. On Wednesday, the running back mentioned how much he likes big matchups — and it's exactly what we would think.

"I love these types of games. I feel like it brings out the best in me," Jacobs said in the locker room. "Whenever I get a chance to prove myself or prove my team right, it's something that I always look forward to doing."

Ride

It's been a strong season for Josh Jacobs. After a somewhat down year in his last season on the Las Vegas Raiders, Jacobs signed a four-year deal with the Packers. And Green Bay is certainly happy with the early results.

Jacobs is 13 rushing yards away from reaching 1,000 in the season. He is already the first Packers player since Aaron Jones in 2021 to reach 1,000 scrimmage yards.

But it goes beyond the volume yards. He has forced 54 missed tackles, and has produced 3.51 yards after contact per attempt. Jacobs has already reached 26 explosive runs in 2024.

Josh Jacobs has proven the Packers right about the running back swap. Now, it's time to help them prove they can be an elite team against who most think is the best around the NFL.
