The Baltimore Ravens lost several key pieces, including former defensive coordinator Mike MacDonald departing to take the Seattle Seahawks head coaching job, but might have landed a disruptive playmaker during the NFL Draft.
Adisa Isaac was an ascending star during his career at Penn State, capping his time in Happy Valley with 7.5 sacks and 16 tackles for loss as a senior in 2023 before being chosen by the Ravens with the No. 93 overall pick in the third round of this spring’s draft.
Isaac may have landed in the perfect defense to maximize his athleticism and skill set.
Adisa Isaac Named Rookie Sleeper to Watch
Chris Trapasso put together a list of the AFC rookies with underrated chances of becoming an instant impact player this fall, including Isaac.
“Isaac wasn’t quite Chop Robinson,” Trapasso points out for CBS Sports. “Athletically or from a production perspective. But just because he was rushing opposite a future 21-year-old first-round pick doesn’t mean he can get to the quarterback.
“An above-average athlete who loves to get low around the corner on his outside speed rush, Isaac is the exact classification of edge rusher the Baltimore defense needs considering David Ojabo has dealt with a litany of injuries and hasn’t met hype when healthy. Isaac registered a pressure on close to 15% of his pass-rushing opportunities over the past two years at Penn State.”
During his three seasons in Happy Valley, Isaac posted 14.5 sacks with 31.5 tackles for loss, underscoring his ability to wreak havoc in opposing backfields.
“He’s a little light,” an AFC scout told NFL Media’s Lance Zierlein. “But I really like the competitiveness and how he never gives the tackles a break. He’s always through the whistle.”
Isaac’s skill-set and the Ravens’ defensive system give him the chance to quickly develop into a playmaker at the NFL level.
