Chiefs predicted to trade $1.5 million veteran after just 2 months with team

The Kansas City Chiefs running back situation is not what they expected when the season started. With Isiah Pacheco injured the team has shuffled the position and tried multiple players in the lead role.

When listing potential Chiefs players that could be traded this month, Fan Sided's Sayre Bedinger predicted the team would trade Samaje Perine. Perine signed with the Chiefs on August 30 and Bedinger predicts that he won't make it past the end of October.

What stood out from Chiefs Week 5 'MNF' win vs. Saints 'GMFB'

"GMFB" on what stood out from the Kansas City Chiefs Week 5 "Monday Night Football" win vs. New Orleans Saints.

"Perine is a solid veteran, but he's already getting out-snapped and out-touched by Hunt, and Perine might not be in the team's plans if/when players like Isiah Pacheco and Clyde Edwards-Helaire are welcomed back," wrote Bedinger. "The Chiefs would have to be pretty certain of the availability of those guys, but it's very much a possibility that Perine could be dealt to a running back-needy team by the deadline."

The Chiefs signed Kareem Hunt after Pacheco went down and they needed depth. Carson Steele has shown flashes but has struggled by fumbling the ball. Perine specializes as a pass catcher, but Hunt brings that to the table as well. Perine's experience in the league could be an asset in the playoffs, but Bedinger thinks it may not be enough to keep him around.

"But given the re-emergence of Kareem Hunt in Kansas City's offense as well as the team's love for young Carson Steele, I could see someone like Perine being on the outs at one point or another," Bedinger wrote of Perine's role on the team.

The NFL trade deadline is on November 5 so the Chiefs have less than a month to make a decision on Perine and any other potential trades.
