Can Rams defense contain quarterback Kyler Murray?

The Los Angeles Rams will look to rebound after an overtime loss in Week 1 as they take on the Arizona Cardinals. Throughout the Sean McVay era, the Cardinals have typically been a “get right” type opponent and the Rams will be hoping for much of the same on Sunday. The Rams swept the Cardinals last year, but Arizona pushed the Buffalo Bills last week and could be a feisty opponent.

Rams-Cardinals Prop Bets: Can L.A. defense contain QB Kyler Murray? - Turf Show Times

This season, SB Nation has partnered with FanDuel Sportsbook to give you our expert opinions on our recommendations for your picks if you participate in sports gambling. Here are two plays that I like for Week 2.

Kyler Murray OVER 31.5 yards rushing (-113)

The Rams defense managed to contain Jared Goff last week, but the Lions quarterback doesn’t have the same athleticism as Murray. It’s going to be interesting to see how effectively the Rams defense manages to contain Murray or if the Cardinals quarterback is able to break a few big runs.

There were moments against the Lions that the Rams edge rushers failed to contain the edge. With Murray, the interior will also need to stay disciplined in their rush lanes. Murray had four rushes for 57 yards against the Bills and has over 31.5 yards rushing in four of his last five games dating back to last season.

Kyren Williams OVER 17.5 Rushing Attempts (-108)

It’s going to be interesting to see how the Rams manage their running backs this week. The Rams drafted Blake Corum in the third round during the draft to manage Kyren Williams’ workload. However, Corum got zero carries in Week 1. Meanwhile, Williams had 18 rushing attempts.

With the Rams offensive line still dealing with injuries, Sean McVay will likely be leaning on Williams in pass protection more. Additionally, running the ball more could help an offensive line that needs to build confidence.. That means that Williams should see the field more and get more touches. In two games against the Cardinals last season, Williams had 20 and 16 rushing attempts and had over 100 yards in each game. It may also be worth taking Williams over 75.5 rushing yards. However, if the Rams are in this game, expect a heavy dose of Williams in the run game.
