No follow-up to Davante Adams swap

Details of former Raiders WR Davante Adams reworked contract with Jets - Yahoo Sports

Tuesday was the last day of the 2204 season where NFL playoff hopefuls could try to bolster their rosters and also rans could try to add draft-pick ammo by shedding their rosters of players.

While the 2-7 Las Vegas Raiders qualify as also rans as they are buried in the AFC playoff race, general manager Tom Telesco did not make any deals before the deadline passed. It really wasn’t a shock because talks seemed fairly dormant since the team made it’s big trade three weeks ago as they shipped star wide receiver Davante Adams to the New York Jets two weeks ago.

Yet, the Raiders, who are on their bye week, decided to keep their roster intact as they head to the final eight games of the season.

While star defensive end Maxx Crosby was untouchable, there were some players the Raiders could have considered dealing.

That would have started with players who are pending free agents. The Raiders have several such players, especially on defense. They include linebackers Robert Spillane and Divine Deablo, safety Tre’von Moehrig, cornerback Nate Hobbs and defensive tackles Adam Butler and John Jenkins. Running back Alexander Mattison will also be a free agent.

Trading some of these players could have helped the Raiders rebuild in the draft, especially at the quarterback position. But nothing materialized before the deadline.
