5 players the Lions can poach from practice squads to help replace Alim McNeill and Carlton Davis, including two former Lions

The Detroit Lions injuries just keep coming, but that doesn't mean the team is going to pack things up and move on to next season. They're going to continue to try to win it all this year. It's going to be hard without Alim McNeill and Carlton Davis, who could both be out of the year, but there are some guys out there who could help.

The Lions went on a poaching spree after Thanksgiving and with potential three open roster spots by the end of the week, they might be doing it again. Here are five guys that the Lions should keep an eye out for:

Josh Tupou, DT, Ravens

There's a lot to like with this player. He's been around the league for some time now and has experience starting here and there. He's able to bring some pressure and he can tackle well too. You're not going to get a Pro Bowl level out of him, but he can mix in nicely with a rotation of players.

 Jayden Peevy, DT, Texans

The big draw here is that Peevy has two years working with Lions defensive line coach Terrell Williams under his belt. There's some familiarity there. There's also some positional versatility there. He can play on the inside and the outside. Aaron Glenn loves a player who can do multiple things.

Peevy has had a nice season this year when he was elevated for the Panthers (who he was with earlier this year). He has five pressures and two sacks on 84 snaps.

Quinton Bohanna, DT, Seahawks

I don't know, maybe I was the only one upset that the Titans poached Bohanna away last year. I thought that he played pretty well next to McNeill last season and the Lions should have signed him to their 53-man roster.

Now is a good time to run it back and there is the added bonus that he was with Williams last year for the second part of the season. He knows what to expect from this team in every way.

Chase Lucas, CB, 49ers

Finding a cornerback right now is hard, but here's a guy who has been with the Lions as late as last season and was a Brad Holmes draft pick. There was a lot of hope that Lucas would transform his way from a good special teams guy to a solid rotational cornerback, but that didn't happen in Detroit. It doesn't mean it can never happen.

Bring him back and try it again. Plus you get a little competitive advantage over the 49ers when you play them in a few weeks.

Isaiah Johnson, CB, Dolphins

Maybe not the best time to be grabbing rookies, but I liked this player coming out of the draft and the Lions did too. Johnson looked pretty good in the preseason and I think he could be ready to see the field in a rotation right now. Plus the Lions get a guy they can work up for the future. It's a win/win.
