Will ReliaQuest Bowl be Tyler Booker’s last game with Alabama football? Captain discusses

Tyler Booker is going to play in the ReliaQuest Bowl for Alabama football. Let’s start there.

Why captain Tyler Booker decided to play in Alabama's bowl game

“It’s a no brainer for me to play into it,” Booker said. “Everything I’ve poured into this team, everything this team has poured into me, I feel like it would be very hypocritical of me not to play. It’s the love that I have for this place and the love that I have for the game of football. If I have another opportunity to play this game, I’m definitely going to take advantage of it.”

The Crimson Tide captain has been a vocal leader throughout the season, and often a voice for the players.

In addition to the hypocritical nature of not playing against Michigan on Tuesday, Dec. 31 at 11 a.m. in Tampa as Booker mentioned, there is something at stake. Even with it not being a College Football Playoff bowl game.

A 10-win season is on the table. Alabama hasn’t had fewer than 10 wins in a season since 2007, when the Crimson Tide went 7-6.

“It means a lot,” Booker said. “There’s a lot of goals we had set out in front of us before this year took place. Obviously we can’t achieve most of those goals now. One of those goals left to achieve is 10 wins. That’s at the forefront of our minds right now and going out to Tampa and getting a W.”

The next question is, will this be Booker’s final game at Alabama? The junior is eligible to enter the NFL Draft and ESPN ranks him as the top guard available.

“I haven’t yet (made a decision),” Booker said. “I’m just focused on going down to Tampa and getting a victory.”
