Which players will fans choose for Rams’ Mount Rushmore?

Few NFL franchises have a history as rich and important as the Cleveland, St. Louis, Los Angeles Rams. The first professional football team west of the Mississippi, the winners of Super Bowls in 1999 and 2021, including arguably the most iconic offense of all-time, eight numbers retired by the franchise, and 19 players in the Hall of Fame.

Not yet including Aaron Donald, the best all-around player of the past 10 years.

How do you pick only four people—not just players but PEOPLE—to represent the team in a Mount Rushmore situation?

It’s nearly impossible, if not for the fact that all it requires you to do is name four people. That’s not hard. And if you left somebody off, nobody will notice or care. This is YOUR list, not anybody else’s and there are no wrong answers. List your Rams Mount Rushmore in the comments section below, vote for your favorite answers, and I’ll post the results of the actual Rams Mount Rushmore—as decided by YOU—later this week.

Because of his proximity to playing today and his dominance over the past decade, we can first decide of AD is a must-have on the Mount Rushmore:

But what about a few other names you probably like a lot? Many of TST’s readers and commenters have been watching the team since at least the days of Deacon Jones, Jack Youngblood, and Roman Gabriel, so I’m curious to see where your votes lie.

As far as non-players go, let’s not forget that former owner Dan Reeves moved the team to L.A. and changed the course of sports history, in addition to re-integrating Black players into the NFL. And where do you put Sean McVay? If not the best coach in Rams history, certainly the best since Chuck Knox. (Dick Vermeil wasn’t around for long.)

Retired numbers include Bob Waterfield, Marshall Faulk, Eric Dickerson, Merlin Olsen, Deacon Jones, Jackie Slater, Isaac Bruce, and Jack Youngblood.

Hall of Famers who played more than a few years with the Rams (like Jerome Bettis and Aeneas Williams) include Tom Fears, Kevin Greene, Elroy Hirsch, Bruce, Faulk, Dickerson, Olsen, Slater, Youngblood, Waterfield, Tom Mack, Orlando Pace, Norm Van Brocklin, Kurt Warner.

Let’s try another one:

Best bet is to put your Mount Rushmore in the comments. I’ll tally the results and post them later in the week. If you hit rec on the entries you like the most, that will help immensely.
