‘Welcome back, Coby’ - Twitter reacts to Seahawks’ dominant 34-14 win over the Falcons

The Seattle Seahawks were back in action against the Atlanta Falcons following the much needed mini-bye, and desperately needed the win. The Falcons offense has been potent lately, so slowing their roll would be no small task for the struggling and injured Seahawks defense. There were a few upsides for Seattle heading into the game though; Byron Murphy II was back after missing the previous three games, and ‘Dome Geno’ would be working against an Atlanta defensive line that has one of the lowest pressure rates in the National Football League.

The first half wasn’t great per se, but there was a lot of good. The Seahawks went to the locker room at the half with a 17-7 lead following an electric drive by Geno, capped off by a 31 yard bomb to DK Metcalf in the end zone. DK would finish the half with four catches for 99 yards and a touchdown.

Despite yielding a bunch of yards, the defense exploded in the second half, limiting the Falcons to just a single touchdown on their opening drive. Seattle came into this match-up with just a single turnover in the previous five games, but the defense would get three takeaways in three consecutive drives in this one. The party got started with a Boye Mafe strip sack which resulted in a Derick Hall touchdown, followed by Julian Love and Coby Bryant each picking off Kirk Cousins.

There are still plenty of things to clean up, but we’ll focus on the only thing that matters: Being back on the winning side of things. With the win today, the Seahawks can take control of the NFC West again if the Kansas City Chiefs can keep their win streak alive against the San Francisco 49ers.
