Warriors' Star Trio Narrowly Misses Spot Among NBA’s Best Big 3s

It has been an underwhelming offseason thus far for the Golden State Warriors as they continue to await a decision by restricted free agent Jonathan Kuminga.Warriors stay hot since Butler trade, beat Mavericks 126-102 – Winnipeg Free Press

For Kuminga, it has been reported that he has turned down the Warriors’ contract offer and Golden State is unwilling to meet his asking price for a new contract.

Because of this, Golden State has failed to make any other additions to their roster outside of the 2025 draft this offseason, which was not expected to be the case.

Of course, the Warriors were expected to be very active this offseason as they tried to upgrade their roster around their star trio of Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green to chase a title next season.

Instead, the saga between them and Kuminga has cost them multiple free agent targets and they are quickly running out of options to upgrade their roster this summer through free agency.

Warriors' star trio barely misses top five ranking

While the Warriors continue to await Kuminga’s decision, Bleacher Report’s Greg Swartz recently named their star trio as one of the top big threes in the NBA, though they did miss out on the top five.

“The oldest Big 3 on this list, Curry, Butler and Green will average 36 years in age by the time the 2025-26 season begins. Still, the Warriors went 22-5 with Curry and Butler following the latter's trade over from the Miami Heat last season and won a playoff round against the Houston Rockets,” Swartz wrote. “With a whopping 454 total playoff games behind them and 14 NBA Finals appearances, this is an extremely battle-tested trio, even if age will be a concern.”

Swartz listed the Warriors’ star trio as an honorable mention on his list of the top five big threes in the NBA and while Golden State’s star trio is the oldest on his list, they are also still deadly.

Curry is still arguably the best three-point shooter in the NBA while Green is fresh off being named to an All-Defensive team and was in the running to win Defensive Player of the Year.

Of course, Butler’s addition to their roster changed things for the better last season as the star forward gave them another elite scorer and defender.

While the Warriors’ star trio did not crack the top five of Swartz’s list, they are still a deadly duo, especially in the playoffs due to their amount of experience.
