We've all had that new Miami Dolphins player we were so sure about, but then went out on the field and laid an egg. With that in mind, I asked the following question:
finfanfromsiam has had a hard time at it.
Evening! Any QB since #13!!
sdphinsfan is still mourning yet another player whose career was cut short by a pile of injuries.
Jake Long. And it wasn’t his fault. He had a chance if he had stayed healthy to have an HoF career. Damn shame...
Phin is the Word remembers a couple of UM greats who couldn't overcome injuries at the next level.
The college players I knew best were UM alumni since I follow the school. So when they drafted Randal “Thrill” Hill, I thought it was a sure thing but nope. A later draft had a return to the UM receiver well with Yatil Green being selected but nope again. I’ve stopped guessing since it seems only to hurt the team.
21Dave remembers Parker being constantly injured before the team traded him away to the New England Patriots.
The WR that would pull his Hamstring putting his shoes on…. Mr D. Parker!!
phinette wishes that T.G. Jr had been a better overall player, but is glad that he was not all hopped up on Purple Drank.
For me, It’s Ted Ginn Jr. I expected him to be a superstar, but he never really lived up to the hype. But hey, it could have been worse. We could have been saddled with JaMarcus Russell.
Dolfanjoe believes that the list is far too long!
In case anyone has noticed when you start your post, it says 10,000 characters remaining. Is that really enough for all the draft failures thru the years ?
Dolfan88 had a lot of hope for the jacked and very roided out Boston!
David Boston.
Spok507 in general is out on the first rounders.
I don’t think I’ve ever really agreed with their first round picks until this year! And it’s not that I wanted Grant per se, but I did predict that’s who they would pick. Even got Savaiinaea right for the 2nd round. I was on a roll!! I’m so proud! :)
Dolphster, like me, is far too often blinded by my hardcore fandom of the U!
Let’s turn the calendar back to 1984. I was convinced that Dolphins 2nd round pick Jay Brophy from The U was going to be an outstanding LB for the Fins for many years. My fandom for the Hurricanes may have partly blinded me, but that was definitely a swing and a miss for me.
darrel.owen, like most of us, was seduced by the measurables that made many of us believe he could be the next Jason Taylor.
I was really excited for Dion Jordan. We moved up for cheap to get him, and he had all the measurables, almost like a Madden character you’d create. The only thing he didn’t have was a brain to realize the opportunity he’d been given. He just threw it all away. I still think he had the physical talent to be great if he put in the effort, but he just didn’t want to put in the effort. Pathetic.
Once again, I would like to thank each of you who took the time to read our PQOTD post and answer our question of the day. Here's to all the players you think will be great from this year's crop proving to be so, as the list of disappointments seems already full.
