Wait, Was That A Bold & Beautiful Star on Grey’s Anatomy?

Given how soapy Grey’s Anatomy can be, it’s not surprising that a whole lot of daytime fans tune in each week to see what new drama is unfolding at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. But this week’s episode gave them an extra reason to tune in. Why? Because one of the patients had a face that’s pretty darn familiar to Bold & Beautiful watchers.

Grey's anatomy richard winston Spencer's dad

In the episode, titled “Papa Was a Rollin’ Stone,” we met a young man named Spencer who presented with a rather unusual situation: His lung had literally sprung out of his chest as a result of a devastating car accident. But Spencer’s main concern wasn’t, you know, getting the vital organ back into place but rather that his dad know the accident hadn’t been his fault.

As the episode unfolded, it became clear why Spencer was so worried about his dad, who was kind of a dirtbag and definitely a drunk. All of this made for great TV, but soap fans got a little something stirred into the already spicy mix upon realizing that Spencer was being played by Christian Weissmann.

Of course, Weissmann plays budding psycho Remy Pryce on Bold & Beautiful. On the soap, he was introduced as Electra Forrester’s stalker who later bonded with serial killer Luna while she was — inexplicably — Bill Spencer’s houseguest. And while we haven’t seen Remy in a while, it seems likely that he eventually will resurface in Los Angeles. Our best guess? That Luna’s equally crazy grandma, Sheila Carter, will rope him into helping her granddaughter get Electra out of the way in order to clear a path to good guy Will Spencer.

Want even more soapy connections? The episode was directed by Chandra Wilson, who is best known for playing Dr. Miranda Bailey on the primetime sudser but has also played several different character on General Hospital. The episode also served to introduce Piper Pearbo — aka Yellowstone‘s Summer — as the mom of a 9-year-old in need of life-saving surgery.

Miss the episode? You can catch it streaming on Hulu, where every episode — yes, all 21 seasons worth — can be found.
