The Jacksonville Jaguars used their franchise tag twice on Cam Robinson to keep him with the team. But now Jacksonville is trading the former Alabama All-American to the Minnesota Vikings.
While the trade has not been announced by either NFL team, the Minnesota Star Tribune, NFL Network and ESPN reported the Vikings have moved to fill the vacancy at left offensive tackle created when Christian Darrisaw tore the anterior cruciate ligament and medial collateral ligament in his left knee in Thursday night’s 30-20 loss to the Los Angeles Rams.
Robinson has been Jacksonville’s left tackle when healthy since joining the Jaguars from Alabama in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft.
In Sunday’s 30-27 loss to the Green Bay Packers, Jacksonville started Walker Little at left tackle. Robinson started the week in the NFL’s concussion protocol after getting hurt in a 32-16 victory over the New England Patriots on Oct. 20. But Robinson was cleared on Saturday and in uniform on Sunday, making the game against the Packers the first that Robinson has been eligible to play that he did not start at left tackle.
On Monday, Jacksonville coach Doug Pederson said he was undecided about the left-tackle starter for the Jaguars’ Week 9 game.
ESPN reported the Vikings would get Robinson and a conditional seventh-round selection in the 2026 NFL Draft in exchange for a 2026 fifth-round pick that can be upgraded to a fourth-round selection if certain goals are met.
With a 2-6 record, Jacksonville will play the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. At 5-2, Minnesota faces the Indianapolis Colts in the Week 9 Sunday night game.
The Jaguars and Vikings are schedule to meet on Nov. 10 in Jacksonville.
Robinson has started 91 regular-season and three playoff games in his eight seasons with the Jaguars. He has played the complete schedule once.
