Vikings $5 million free agent predicted to ditch reunion with Minnesota for deal with Ravens

In the 2025 NFL Draft, the team selected a whopping 11 players, including safety Malaki Starks and edge-rusher Mike Green.

Vikings vs. Ravens: Five Game-Changing Plays - Daily Norseman

Now, the team is preparing for a 2025 season in which they hope to go even further than they did a year ago. However, the secondary could certainly use another talented body, and there are still options on the free agent market.

Sterling Xie of Pro Football Network recently identified Minnesota Vikings free agent Stephon Gilmore as a logical fit for the Ravens. Regarding Gilmore's potential fit in Baltimore, Xie offered the following:

A veteran like Stephon Gilmore would be a starting-level player who would allow the Ravens to avoid depending on an unknown, such as Jalyn Armour-Davis or T.J. Tampa. Gilmore’s past experience in man-heavy schemes could translate well to a Ravens defense that played man at the ninth-highest rate in 2024. He’s still a quality starter, as evidenced by his 7.1 yards per target allowed with the Vikings last year.

Gilmore is an aging corner who is well-traveled at this point, playing on five different teams over the last five seasons.

However, the veteran was reliable as ever in 2024, earning a solid 63.9 overall grade from Pro Football Focus and a 77.6 run defense grade.

In 15 games for the Vikings last season, Gilmore collected 56 tackles, one tackle for loss, one interception, and nine pass deflections. The veteran has accumulated at least one interception in each of his 13 seasons in the NFL and had a career-high of six in 2019.

Overall, Gilmore has earned five Pro Bowl berths, two All-Pro selections, and won Super Bowl LIII with the New England Patriots.

In Baltimore, Gilmore could start at corner alongside Nate Wiggins and Marlon Humphrey, giving the team another veteran option to deploy.

Spotrac projects Gilmore to land a one-year deal worth just over $5 million on the market. Over the Cap has the Ravens sitting at around $11 million in cap space, so this deal would make sense from a financial standpoint as well.
