The New York Giants are one of the more talked-about teams in the NFL right now because of how they have been covered on the offseason edition of Hard Knocks.
In-depth conversations and key meetings have taken center stage inside the Giants’ facility this offseason.
One of the latest conversations that was captured on camera was between Giants GM Joe Schoen and the agent of former Giants Pro Bowl running back Saquon Barkley, Ed Berry.
“We’re not going to go there. We’re out,” Schoen told Berry after Berry revealed how much an unknown team was willing to offer Barkley.
Of course, that unknown team ended up being the arch-rival Eagles.
Part of the reason why Philadelphia was able to offer Barkley a three-year deal worth $37.75 million was because they didn’t have a starting running back in the building.
Their starting running back from 2023 in D’Andre Swift signed with the Chicago Bears as a free agent earlier this offseason.
So, the Eagles, who are in a title window, felt like they could offer more than a team like the Giants could.
Instead of paying up for Barkley, the Giants ended up signing veteran running back Devin Singletary to a three-year deal worth $16.5 million.
Judging by the inexperience and inability on this Giants roster, it feels as if they could be in for a difficult season.
However, if Daniel Jones can get the most out of himself and his pass-catchers on the outside, perhaps they could surprise the rest of the league and win more games.
