Jax Taylor is reflecting on the demise of his marriage with Brittany Cartwright on his podcast In the Mind of a Man. All the while, some of his shocking behavior is being aired with Season 2 of The Valley. He lost business over it, with nearly half of his podcast tour dates pulling the plug on his life events.
The Vanderpump Rules alum was worried how public opinion would shift. And he was right to be concerned. So perhaps Jax is now adopting a tone of self-reflection. He decided that marriage and relationships are not for him.
Jax Taylor says he shouldn’t have ever married
On the May 1 episode of In the Mind of a Man, the topic of dating in the future came up. Jax was running a Q & A with fans, and he explained why he’s avoiding dating for now.
“I think about it now, and I just don’t personally think I am supposed to be in a relationship,” Jax shared. “I just don’t think I’m supposed to be married. You know, I’ve known this my whole life.”
The Valley star continued, “I met Brittany, and I thought, okay, maybe things are gonna be different. I love her and I want to be with her, and I — this is what you should do, you know? And deep, deep, deep down inside, I’ve always known that I just … I was never the person to get married.”
Jax and Brittany separated in January 2024. Britt filed for divorce in August of the same year. And a fan asked if he planned to start dating again.
“I don’t wanna answer that question because I don’t know. As of right now, absolutely not,” Jax responded.
The Valley viewers will know that doesn’t mean Jax won’t hook up with another woman in the family home. There’s also the potential that a sexual partner could leave her thong and a baby wipe on the bathroom sink. However, he did call himself “the farthest thing [from who a woman] should date.”
“The person wasn’t the problem,” he explained. “Like, Brittany wasn’t the problem — I’m the problem … I get bored being in relationships and I don’t wanna be in a relationship. I just don’t like it.”
Jax wants his podcast tour to take a different direction
Jax has rebranded his flailing podcast tour as a favor to women at large. He wants to give them tips on avoiding toxic males. Perhaps some of the venues will rebook him?
“That’s why I’m doing this tour, people, to show you I am the walking red flag. I am what you stay away from. Don’t go anywhere near a guy like me,” he said. “And if I can help other girls stay away from men like me, then you know what? I’ve done my job.”
Jax concluded, “I feel like this is my job, is to go out there, talk about my sobriety, talk about my mental health, talk about the struggles that I’ve had with drugs and alcohol, and also to help women stay away from men like me. I feel like that’s what my goal is right now.”
