The New York Giants are heading into an offseason that will define the Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll era, but they need a quarterback to succeed. There’s options they could draft in the 2025 NFL Draft, but that could be a death sentence for their jobs in New York. The smart move would be to sign a Quarterback like Kirk Cousins or trade for a Quarterback like Geno Smith
Why Geno Smith?
Geno is a polarizing topic when it comes to Seahawks fans, but he’s been very productive as their quarterback. His time may be waring thin in Seattle, but his ability to conduct the offense as well as being superbly accurate is a skill that the Giants have needed badly. Geno’s had costly turnovers late in games, but at this point the Giants need a quarterback to get them through 17 games and that would be Geno.
He’s got one year left on his contract, and the Seahawks have to make a decision to go a different direction or resign him to an extension. If I’m the Giants I’m trading a 2nd round pick for Geno so you’re not pigeonholed to drafting a quarterback like Shedeur Sanders who comes with a ton of baggage around him. If it’s not Shedeur and Cam Ward gets drafted #1 overall, who would become the Giants quarterback?
The smart move for the Giants is to get a bridge quarterback, and that guy is Geno Smith.
