The Bachelor season 28 ended with an engagement, but, over time, it has become increasingly possible that Joey Graziadei and Kelsey Anderson will never get married. Joey, a 28-year-old tennis pro from Hawaii, made his television debut as a contestant on The Bachelorette season 20, and he made it to the final two. When Charity Lawson gave her final rose to Dotun Olukembo, Joey was devastated, but he was given another chance at finding love when he was cast as The Bachelor. On night one, he met Kelsey, a 26-year-old junior project manager from Louisiana, and they had instant chemistry.
After a full season of dates, rose ceremonies, tearful eliminations, and other dramatic interludes, The Bachelor season 28 ended with Joey giving his final rose to Kelsey. After he slipped a Neil Lane diamond ring onto her finger, the couple rode off into the sunset to live their happily ever after. It's a beautiful story, but there has been some speculation about the fact that the couple still hasn't chosen a wedding date, and they appear to be in no hurry to do so. Joey and Kelsey may be taking things slow, but there could be trouble in paradise?
Joey & Kelsey's Fairytale Romance
She Beat Out A Lot Of Great Women
Joey was smitten with the tall and attractive Kelsey from the moment she stepped out of the limousine on night one of The Bachelor season 28 with her signature mane of hair flowing around her. They got to know each other better during that night's cocktail party, and they even shared a kiss. Though Joey kissed seven women that first night, Kelsey would eventually be the last woman he would kiss. Joey met 32 women during The Bachelor 28, which was a record number of contestants for any show in the franchise.
Joey whittled his options down to Kelsey and 26-year-old Daisy Kent. Though Joey liked Daisy, it was always clear that he was going to choose Kelsey. In fact, it was so clear that even Daisy herself knew she wasn't going to win Joey's final rose. In an unprecedented turn of events, Daisy went to Kelsey's hotel room on the morning of the final rose ceremony and conceded Kelsey had won Joey's heart. The two women drove to the rose ceremony together, and Daisy ended things with Joey before he could break up with her.
Joey & Kelsey Ran Into Financial Trouble
Growing Pains
When Joey and Kelsey first went public with their relationships, their lives changed dramatically, and they couldn't easily go back to working their normal jobs. They were open about their financial issues as they initially juggled their new and old lives. Soon after their finale aired, they appeared on the Trading Secrets podcast, where Joey talked about forgetting to make a credit card payment while filming The Bachelor season 28, and how it dinged his credit score. For her part, Kelsey quit her office job as a project manager, and she and Joey grew impressive new careers as influencers.
Since settling into their new lives, Joey and Kelsey have grown massive social media followings on Instagram and TikTok.
Since becoming prominent social media influencers, Joey and Kelsey have earned lucrative partnerships with impressive companies. They even made a promotional video for retail giant Amazon, which Joey posted to Instagram. Their success on social media has changed their lives completely, and neither Bachelor star ever has to go back to their old jobs if they don't want to.
Their Awkward Living Situation Explained
They Had Multiple Roommates
In addition to their financial troubles, Joey and Kelsey's living situation at the time was also a problem. Apparently, Joey had been living with his sister in between his appearances on The Bachelorette and The Bachelor, so Kelsey invited him to move in with her and her multiple female roommates in New Orleans. Since the couple was traveling so much due to their new celebrity lifestyle, they were rarely at home, so the situation seemed to work for them. These days, the couple live in Los Angeles while Joey films Dancing With The Stars.
They Still Haven't Set A Date
They Set A Date To Set A Date
Joey and Kelsey got engaged in November 2023, which is when The Bachelor season 28 finished filming. More than ten months have passed since Joey put a ring on Kelsey's finger, but the couple haven't picked a wedding date. In August, Kelsey and Joey posted an Instagram sponsorship with the convenience store chain, Wawa. In the clip, fans ask the couple about their wedding date.
When Joey looked at Kelsey for an answer, she replied, " definitely within the next two years ."
Kelsey went on to say that she and Joey would settle on a date and location for their Bachelor wedding "within the next six months." Since it's already early fall, another six months means they won't even announce a wedding date until 2025. The fact of the matter is, the longer they wait, the less likely they are to get married. Though they have yet to announce a date, Joey and Kelsey shared their engagement film shoot.
They're Too Busy To Get Married
They Shouldn't Wait Too Long
Joey and Kelsey appear to lead very busy lives as social media influencers and reality television stars. Since leaving The Bachelor season 28 together, they've spent a lot of time traveling. They've been spotted in Europe, riding around on yachts, and traveling throughout the United States. It's possible Joey and Kelsey are perfectly happy, and they're simply too busy to plan a wedding right now, but it's a mistake to drag things out for too long. If they're not careful, they'll call it quits before their wedding day, like many a Bachelor Nation couple before them.
Joey Made A Diva Demand While Filming Dancing With The Stars
It May Be A Red Flag
See Joey embrace hair metal energy in the Dancing With The Stars clip shown above, as per YouTube. Backstage, he may be a little less playful. Joey may be dealing with a jealous partner, Kelsey, as he reportedly asked producers to pair him with a partner who's in a stable and happy relationship. In other words, he didn't want to dance with a woman who was romantically available. While this is honorable in a way, as Joey's trying to make sure that Kelsey feels comfortable with his DWTS stint, it could have happened because Kelsey complained, or openly got jealous.
Kelsey's denied feeling jealous of Joey's dance partner, Jenna Johnson, and maybe she's not. However, the fact that he's dancing so intimately with a woman that isn't Kelsey may bother her sometimes - Kelsey's only human. Right now, it seems like Kelsey and Joey are okay. Once in a while, Kelsey's cryptic posts seem to tell a different story. They are a young couple, and they will have ups and downs. To stop the jealousy gossip, Kelsey and Joey chatted with E Online. She said:
He's really excited about this amazing opportunity with Dancing with the Stars —learning how to dance and checking something off his bucket list. I'm just trying to be there to support him and support Jenna as well. I think that they're gonna crush it.
If she's secretly jealous, she's handling it well, and has Joey's back in public. Yes, they're waiting years to marry and people are going to question their love - they know that. However, they don't seem to care that much. They could easily elope or plan a wedding to silence those who think they won't go the distance. They prefer to move at their own pace, doing things their own way. There's nothing wrong with that. It may actually be a sign of how secure both feel within the relationship.
On Reddit, in a thread started by sweet_espresso, most fans think that Joey's a good partner to Kelsey. They remember how smitten he was with Kelsey on the show, and believe that Joey is one hundred percent invested in his romance with her. They think his activities on Dancing With the Stars are solely professional.
DWTS fans know that Jenna's got a solid relationship with someone else, and has a baby with her partner, Valentin “Val” Chmerkovskiy. Their son's name is Rome. Fans referenced Kelsey's recent TikTok, where she said Joey was just doing his job on the show, clearly agreeing with her. With regard to DWTS, a Redditor wrote:
I’m still stuck on the fact that people think that dance was sexy/steamy. He did a great job, don’t get me wrong. I loved it! It was just more-so cute and fun to me than sexy. I think Joey is inherently sexy (even though he called himself a golden retriever lol) but the dance itself really wasn’t. Idk
Anyways, love them. I can see him going to the finals!
Yes, Joey's dancing with another woman, but she's got a real life with another man - she's there to dance and make money, and extend her fame, just like Joey is. Kelsey is Joey's partner, helping him out with his problems like a loyal fiancée should. She's defending him online, just like a good partner should do. These are clues that the couple is very strong - it's only haters who want to cause trouble who are the problem.
Kelsey is in an exciting phase - she's watching her father, "hot dad" Mark Anderson, try his luck at love with Joan Vassos on The Golden Bachelorette. Joey's future father-in-law Mark has been supporting him all the way on Instagram, and recently praised him for getting a great score.
A parent tends to have a sixth sense about their child's partner - Mark obviously has no issues with Joey, and that bodes well. He probably wouldn't be so glowing about Joey's DWTS appearance if he didn't like him and trust him. So, maybe the jealousy talk is just chatter that doesn't mean a whole lot.
Mark doesn't seem to be really connecting with Joan. The 57-year-old single father of five did get Joan's final rose in the latest episode, but their bond doesn't seem that strong. That's why it's easy to wonder if Mark will become the next Golden Bachelor. While he may not be a front-runner for The Golden Bachelor, he'd be a great casting choice. He's getting a lot of press and attention because he's Kelsey's dad. He's impressed since he debuted on Joey's Bachelor season, getting to know the show's leading man during Kelsey and Joey's hometown dates.
The Bachelor seasons 1-28 can be streamed on Hulu.
