NY Giants QB Russell Wilson Among League's Best in This Key Passing Metric

The New York Giants are bringing onto the roster a Super Bowl winner, but Russell Wilson isn't the same player he once was.

At one point in his career, Russell Wilson was considered a sure-fire pick to land a bust in Canton in the Hall of Fame.

The former Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl winner had been to The Big Game twice, was a 10-time Pro Bowler and was in the top 20 for all-time passing stats.

Those numbers are more than worthy of Hall of Fame consideration.

But sometimes, the longer the all-time greats play, the less great they look.

And Wilson's legacy has suffered massively in the last few years.

Following his departure from Seattle in 2022, and now with the New York Giants, Wilson will have by September played for four teams in the last five years... while compiling a losing record as a starting quarterback.

That's not all his fault; it is a team game. But his first two teams, Denver and Seattle, have gotten better since they dismissed Wilson.

If Aaron Rodgers succeeds this year in Pittsburgh, that phenomenon will happen again.

So, where exactly did Wilson's career go wrong? How did he go from being one of the best quarterbacks in the game to a journeyman whose legacy has been tarnished?

And how can the Giants help him fix this?

Some can say it is because of age; he's now 36.

But his detractors have often whispered that his Wilson's inspirational quotes feel fake and that his demands off the field (especially in Denver) set him apart from his teammates.

And now come the Giants, with Wilson having moved to the Big Apple while being asked to be a savior of sorts for the struggling franchise.

But it will be too much for him - in terms of fixing his reputation and his record.

The Giants hope to finally have someone they can rely on to win games and bring legitimacy back to football in New York. But they need a QB who can truly lift them. And who teammates believe in.

Wilson might pull off that second issue; maybe he can bond with these guys.

But he's not good enough anymore to elevate the Giants.

And the Giants aren't good enough to elevate him.
