The Bachelor Season 30 Renewed By ABC With A Major Change After Franchise Troubles

After 29 seasons on the air, The Bachelor will be coming back for a milestone season on ABC, but executives at the network are undergoing major changes after dealing with troubles within the franchise. After Jenn Tran's season of The Bachelorette aired, ABC put that spin-off on hold. Then Grant Ellis' season of The Bachelor faced criticism over the way he handled his role as the lead, as well as low ratings.

The Bachelor Season 29 Renewed By ABC As Bachelor In Paradise's Future Remains Unknown

According to DeadlineThe Bachelor season 30 has been ordered by ABC for the 2025-2026 TV season; it is expected to air in mid-season, like normal. While a lead hasn't been announced yet, the network is already making massive changes for the original Bachelor Nation series, like bringing a new showrunner on board.

Scott Teti, who's the showrunner for Bachelor In Paradise, is now in charge of The Bachelor. Claire Freeland and Bennett Graebner were the previous showrunners, but they left after the show was accused of harboring a toxic workplace environment.

While Bachelor In Paradise and The Golden Bachelor are up next for ABC, there had been speculation about whether The Bachelor would even be renewed at all. Over the past several months, the franchise has taken quite a tumble in terms of its place in the world of reality TV and especially reality dating shows.

While other series like Love Is Blind and Love Island have risen up the ranks and become fan-favorites, the Bachelor franchise has, unfortunately, started withering away. ABC has tried to reinvigorate the franchise with new spin-offs like The Golden Bachelor and The Golden Bachelorette, but they clearly haven't helped the OG show regain its former glory, especially after Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist got divorced very quickly after their live TV wedding.

Our Take on The Bachelor Season 30 Renewal

The Bachelor Might Change Up Its Format

Scott will have a heavy burden to carry amid all of these troubles within the franchise. Fortunately, what he has going for him is the fact that the show he's currently running, Bachelor In Paradise, is considered one of the best spin-offs. The upcoming Bachelor In Paradise season 10 will see some big changes, including adding contestants from the Golden spin-offs.

While it's too early to tell if that format change will work or not, at least Scott is willing to try something new, and maybe he can bring that energy and mentality to The Bachelor. Scott also has experience working on such shows as Married At First SightSummer House and Claim To Fame, so he'll have to lean into what he knows best to try to reinvigorate The Bachelor.
