The Bachelor Season 29’s Focus On Drama Is Making Grant Ellis Look Bad (Will It Ruin The Season For Everyone?)

So far, The Bachelor season 29 has been focused more on the drama among the contestants than the romances between Grant Ellis and the women, and this is making Grant look bad, which could ruin everyone's experiences on the show. Grant, a now-31-year-old day trader who's originally from Newark, New Jersey, but now lives in Houston, Texas, began his Bachelor journey with 25 women. He's now narrowed them down to ten, including Alexe Godin, Carolina Sofia, Dina Lupancu, Juliana Pasquarosa, Litia Garr, Natalie Phillips, Parisa Shifteh, Rose Sombke, Sarafiena Watkins, and Zoe McGrady.

Throughout The Bachelor season 29, Grant has been forming connections with the women, but the show has focused more on the conflicts among them. Within all of this chaos, Grant has ended up looking like the bad guy because of the way that he handles, and sometimes unintentionally even causes, the drama. Here's how The Bachelor season 29's focus on drama is making Grant out to be the bad guy, and why that could cause him to end up alone.

The Conflict Between Carolina Sofia & Rose Sombke Made Grant Look Like A Player & A Liar

Grant Didn't Seem To Remember What He Said To Rose

During The Bachelor season 29 episode 3, some drama between Carolina and Rose came to a head, with Grant caught in the middle of it. During an episode 2 group date, Carolina won an R&B singing contest, which meant that she received a dance with Grant on stage in front of the audience. Not only did Carolina and Grant dance, but they ended up making out in front of the other women, which greatly upset some of them.

In episode 3 (in a clip shared by the Bachelor Nation YouTube channel), after a one-on-one date with Grant, Carolina revealed that Rose had told her off-screen that Grant had told her that, while he was dancing with Carolina, he was thinking of Rose the whole time. Carolina felt terrible because she'd had a fantastic time on the date, and now she just felt "cringey." When she confronted Grant about the comment, he was shocked and vehemently denied saying it. He told her that the comment made it sound like he was "trying to spit game," and he wasn't there to do that, but rather to find a wife.

Grant insisted that if he was thinking of someone else while he was dancing with Carolina, then he would've been dancing with her instead. He called the comment "a lie" and "a judge on my character." Carolina didn't want to tell Grant who said it, but he was able to figure it out on his own that it was Rose, after Carolina told him that some of his guesses were wrong. Grant said in his confessional that he wasn't there to be a "player," and he continued to stand firm that he didn't say it.

Grant then confronted Rose, who admitted that she'd made the comment to Carolina because she'd thought that she heard Grant say it. Grant asked her why he'd say that, and he said that it was disrespectful and looked bad on his character. He added that it looked like he wasn't there to find a wife. Rose explained that she and Carolina were in a place where they were "kind of spiraling," and they were "comparing notes." She confessed that it wasn't "a good moment" for her.

Rose said that she could've easily made a mistake because she really thought that he said something like that, but she was just wrong. She then apologized, and said that it was a mistake, and that her intention wasn't to hurt Grant's character. Grant walked away from the conversation saying that they'd talk about it, but he gave her a rose at the rose ceremony anyway. In her confessional, Rose stated that it was "honest to God what I thought I heard."

Although Grant later told Carolina again that he knew for a fact that he didn't say what Rose accused him of saying, some fans thought that he was gaslighting her. This was because, in episode 2, Grant had been shown saying, "You know, the whole dancing thing on stage and everything, I was thinking about you" (shared by the Game of Roses YouTube channel).

However, on an episode of the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast (shared by the Bachelor Nation YouTube channel) after the episode aired, Grant said that there was a "big miscommunication there." He said that he would never say that, but he did admit that the confusion stemmed from the fact that there were several times that he and the women had danced, and he did say that he had his eyes on Rose during some of those dances. However, he emphasized that when he was dancing with Carolina, he was fully present in that moment. Grant said that he had to "defend" himself because he was really "intentional" with his words.

Although Grant was able to clear his name on the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast, not everyone watches or listens to it, so many fans are now left believing that Grant's a player and a liar who made Rose believe something that wasn't true. This focus on drama is making Grant look like the villain, and the more he insists that he's not, the worse he looks. In the preview for The Bachelor season 29 episode 4, the drama only continues, and this could lead to some of the women giving up on Grant, especially Carolina and Rose.

Some Of The Women Were Unhappy With Their Bachelor Season 29 Experience Because Of Grant

Grant's Made Some Questionable Decisions

Some of the Bachelor season 29 women have been unhappy with their experience, and a lot of it stems from Grant's questionable decisions. During the first group date, he allowed Zoe McGrady to steal him away for an extended period of time, which greatly upset some of the women, including Alli Jo Hinkes and Sarafiena Watkins. However, they took their anger out on Zoe, rather than Grant, which led to Zoe telling Grant that she felt belittled by some of the women during an episode 3 group date. Grant then confronted the group of women about it, which made them all feel uneasy.

In addition, Grant's public displays of affection with Carolina and Chloie Costello during group dates led to the women feeling awkward and uncomfortable. This was especially apparent during the nighttime portion of the R&B singing date after his public makeout session with Carolina, when the vibe was completely off. All of this drama could've been prevented if Grant had been more careful with his actions and as intentional as he insists he is. Although the Bachelor producers seem to be playing up the drama because they know that it brings in viewers, the fact of the matter is that they're making some of the women miserable and upset when they should be happy.

Focusing On Drama Could Ruin The Bachelor Experience For Everyone

Grant Might Not Find His Future Wife

If The Bachelor season 29 continues to focus on drama more than romance, then Grant might not find his future wife. The women seem to be stressed out and crying a lot more than they're happy, which could cause some of them to self-eliminate because they won't think it's worth the emotional trauma. If the show pulls its usual stunts of forcing Carolina and Rose on a two-on-one date, or continuing to pit Zoe and the other women against each other, then Grant will end up playing referee more than anything else.

The Bachelor season 29 star Grant Ellis has a very deep connection with Litia Garr, so he should've ended his season early and left with her.

However, Grant also has to be held accountable for the way that he's behaved so far during The Bachelor season 29. From allowing women to interrupt his conversations to his very public displays of affection to not being careful with his words, Grant has made many mistakes. Hopefully, he'll quickly learn from them so that he can find his future wife and live happily ever after.
