Alabama football offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb has spent the past few months learning as much as he could about the talent he inherited.
Once Grubb joined the staff in February, he had to acclimate himself as quickly as he could with the players on the roster. Then that information gathering continued in the spring.
Alabama just wrapped up spring practices. One player who certainly caught his attention: running back Daniel Hill.
“Daniel Hill I thought was one of the guys who maybe stood out as much as anybody this spring,” Grubb said. “I thought he really did a nice job. Physical runner. Very nimble for how big he is. Can stick his foot in the ground and get vertical. Excellent pass catcher out of the backfield. Showed a lot of toughness throughout spring. I thought he showed up quite a bit and improved as much as anybody out there.”
Hill is a 6-1, 242 sophomore from Meridian, Mississippi. He played in nine games a season ago, finishing with 21 carries for 61 yards and one touchdown.
Grubb also praised the running backs as a whole. He said Jam Miller, the elder statesman, is an “extremely bright player.” Grubb also called Richard Young “a physical runner.”
