Texans playmaker had to overcome unbelievable adversity on Saturday just to play in win over Bills

The Houston Texans won a gritty AFC matchup in Week 5 over the Buffalo Bills. Neither offense looked particularly impressive for much of the game, but Houston's defense especially gave Bills QB Josh Allen fits.

Linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair played an important role for Houston, dawning their new alternate uniforms in a pivotal game. Al-Shaair's story for this weekend is a lot more than his great performance on Sunday afternoon, though.

Texans LB Azeez Al-Shaair suffers medical scare on Saturday

According to Aaron Wilson, Al-Shaair was in the emergency room on Saturday night. He had severe nausea, causing him to lose ten pounds. Not even 24 hours later, he played a massive role in the Texans' win over Buffalo.

Al-Shaair had 8 tackles, 2 pass breakups, and multiple pressures on Bills star quarterback Josh Allen. He was an energetic piece for Houston in the victory.

It was a nailbiter win for the Texans, as kicker Ka'imi Fairbairn hit a 59-yard field goal to improve his team to 4-1 on the season.

Al-Shaair and his fellow defensive teammates had Josh Allen in fits. He completed just nine passes in thirty attempts. Yes, you read that stat line correctly. Allen totaled just 131 passing yards and recorded a 56.4 passer rating against Houston.

His completion percentage versus the Texans (30%) was the lowest in a game with 28+ attempts this millennium.

Al-Shaair has quickly morphed into a fan favorite in Houston. His game and effort are playing a major role for them this season.
