Russell Wilson on Justin Fields playing a ‘Slash’ role for Steelers: ‘I think it would strike fear in some defenses’ | Kevin Patra, NFL.com
Wilson sounded open to the two-QB idea or ceding a few snaps to Fields if that’s how things played out.
“Justin is obviously one of the most talented guys in the NFL,” Wilson told Tim Benz of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review on Wednesday. “You know all the things he can do. The player, the quarterback that he is. He’s dynamic. It’s all about us winning. That’s the focus. I think it would strike fear in some defenses, that’s for sure.”
With T.J. Watt absent from Steelers OTAs, Nick Herbig taking full advantage | Mark Kaboly, The Athletic
With Watt — who has 5,443 more snaps and 93.5 more sacks than Herbig in their respective NFL careers — taking a break from offseason activities, Herbig is more than happy to take advantage of the extra reps during the second week of offseason practices.
“I look at this like a chance to get better and be able to go against a guy like Broderick (Jones),” Herbig said. “You have to take full advantage of opportunities like these.”
Mike Clay put out his positional unit rankings and for the Steelers cornerbacks, he has them all the way down at No. 27. Probably a fair rankings considering how far the drop-off is after Porter and Jackson.
The good news is the Steelers might have help on the way. We fully expect to see Patrick Peterson back on the team at some point and even better the team might get Cameron Sutton back as well. If this happens it completely flips the script for the Steelers cornerback room.
