Bronny James’ entry into the NBA became controversial due to his relationship with his father, LeBron, resulting in many criticisms. It worsened as James displayed poor performances in most of his preseason matches. However, after scoring 17 points in his second showdown against the Warriors, the Lakers guard shocked everyone.

Curry, who never played at the mentioned match due to an injury, saw James finally display his potential. The NBA star gave a piece of advice to the rookie, commending his plays following preseason challenges.

In the post-game interview, interviewers asked Bronny James about the counsel Curry gave him. The rookie then answered:

“Mainly just him telling me to play my game and be myself. Also just giving some pointers on things to do in certain situations, but nothing too crazy,” James said.

The Lakers’ final preseason match against the Warriors saw its bench players rise for the team. Besides his high points, James also made four rebounds and three steals. Fellow rookie Quincy Olivari assisted the former USC Trojan with 22 points, four assists, and seven rebounds.

Throughout the last months, Bronny James faced trials. Other than receiving criticism, he also faced health problems, notably his cardiac arrest last August, that affected his plays on the court. He would attempt to overcome these trials as he continue to play on the court with the Lakers in the nearing games.

Bronny James receives criticism from Skip Bayless

After his adapt plays in his last game against the Golden State Warriors, Bronny James received acknowledgment from veteran columnist Skip Bayless, an avid critic of the Lakers guard. However, Bayless also stressed that James still had a flaw behind his impressive performance.

Bayless notably raised the issue of James’ poor three-point shooting and assists. While he commended the Lakers rookie’s plays that night, the analyst remains “disappointed” about the flaws.

“Lakers got annihilated at GSt … but Bronny started, played 35 minutes, scored 17, showed some offensive flashes… but only 1-5 from 3 with 1 assist. My one disappointment so far: Bronny doesn’t always play hard,” Bayless posted.

Out of twelve attempts from downtown, Bronny James only made one. He also struggles in passing shots to his teammates, averaging 0.3 assists. While James has proven to have potential to face mighty teams, he also needs to fix his flaws to maximize his contribution for the Lakers.
