The Kansas City Chiefs released running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire on Monday, ending a five-year relationship with their former first round pick. Though Edwards-Helaire started the season on the NFI list, the Chiefs activated him in October but he has been a healthy scratch for the entire year.
Now CEH becomes a free agent, should the Los Angeles Rams look to add him as reinforcement behind Kyren Williams and Blake Corum as the team hits their most important stretch of the season?
The last pick of the first round in 2020, Edwards-Helaire is only 25 and should have fresh legs by sitting out the entire season thus far.
He had 1,100 total yards as a rookie, which is still the best mark of his career by far.
- 2021: 517 rushing, 129 receiving, 6 TD, 2 fumbles
- 2022: 302 rushing, 151 receiving, 6 TD, 0 fumbles
- 2023: 223 rushing, 188 receiving, 2 TD, 0 fumbles
- 2024: Hasn’t played
Sean McVay could potentially use Edwards-Helaire as an option out of the backfield as a receiver.
