After losing their last ten games during the 2024 NFL season, Antonio Pierce and the Las Vegas Raiders finally picked up a win, defeating the Trevor Lawrence-less Jacksonville Jaguars 19-14 on Sunday.
Going into Week 16, the Raiders were tied with the New York Giants for the worst record in the league at 2-12. However, due to tiebreakers, it was Las Vegas who held the rights to the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL draft.
With the Giants' (2-13) loss to the Atlanta Falcons, they now hold sole possession of the top pick, while the Raiders (3-12) have fallen all the way down to the No. 6 slot.
The Raiders have been linked to Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders for some time, especially with how long they had held a top pick throughout the season. Sanders is widely expected to be one of the top two quarterbacks selected in the upcoming draft, with Miami's Cam Ward being the other.
Following Las Vegas' win over the Jaguars, Sanders, the senior out of Dallas, Texas, made a one-word post on X.
"Legendary," Sanders wrote.
Giants and Raiders fans alike noticed Sanders' latest post and took to the comment section to leave their different reactions.
"Your a giant Buddy you can thank the raiders for winning a meaningless game," one fan said.
"Pull an Eli shedeur it’s the only shot the raiders got at drafting you now," added another.
"Have not gotten a giants jersey in years but you will be the first one once you come to NY," wrote a third.
"Please pull an Eli say you want to be a Raider!" commented a fourth.
The Raiders still have a chance to move back into the top spot. However, they will likely have to lose out. And, with Las Vegas being tied in the standings with the Browns, Jaguars, Titans, and Patriots, it will also need some help from these teams.
Sanders will play in one final game for Colorado when they take on the BYU Cougars in the Alamo Bowl on Dec. 28. Meanwhile, the Raiders only have two games left to improve their draft spot, including battles against the Saints and Chargers.
