Seattle Seahawks Urged To Trade $29 Million Wide Receiver

Teams in the league are now working on their respective packages ahead of the trade deadline to improve their chances of getting the most value down the line. For one NFL analysis, though, the Seattle Seahawks should move wide receiver Tyler Lockett before the deadline expires.

Drafted by the Seahawks in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft, Lockett quickly distinguished himself as a dynamic player. He made an immediate impact, notably returning a kickoff for a touchdown in his NFL debut. His rookie season was stellar, culminating in a Pro Bowl selection and first-team All-Pro honors. Lockett has continued to excel, recognized for his receiving skills and special teams prowess, including multiple All-Pro selections.

As of 2024, he has tallied impressive career statistics, including over 8,000 receiving yards and 59 touchdowns. Off the field, Lockett comes from a football family, with both his father and uncle having played at Kansas State. He remains a key figure for the Seahawks, known for his agility, speed, and ability to make crucial plays in high-pressure situations.

Rather than languish in Seattle, Locket would surely do better with a team that could use his talents. According to Fansided’s Nick Villano, the Seahawks should move the wide receiver right away.

“This crowded room means it makes sense for the Seahawks to see who’s willing to give what for Lockett on the trade block. Would a team give up a first-round pick for Lockett? Is he worth another star player at a different position?

Well, he’s probably not getting exactly what the Seahawks want because Lockett is sneaky old. He’s 32 years old. He’s older than Odell Beckham Jr. The only wide receiver playing this year that’s over 32 years old is Adam Theilen. That’s pretty crazy, and it’s hard to say Lockett is still in that company. He could get the Seahawks a middle-round pick or a different player, but we think this might be a year late on a Lockett trade,” Villano wrote.

Lockett has faced inconsistency this season, making him a potential buy-low candidate for other teams. Despite his talent, the wide receiver’s target share has fluctuated, impacting his production. With the Seahawks’ offense evolving, potential trade partners might find value in acquiring him while his stock is low.

His ability to make big plays and score touchdowns remains intact, suggesting he could rebound as the season progresses. Investing in Lockett now could pay off, especially if he regains his connection with quarterback Geno Smith.
