Seattle Seahawks News: D.K. Metcalf Knee Injury Revealed After Week 7 Game vs. Atlanta Falcons

The Seattle Seahawks are fighting for their season and could be without one of their top players for a little while. During their Week 7 game against the Atlanta Falcons, wide receiver D.K. Metcalf suffered a knee injury and left the game. Now, we know the extent of the injury.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that the Seattle Seahawks wide receiver suffered a Grade 1 sprained MCL and is officially listed as “week to week”. This is definitely considered to be good news as we saw San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk suffer a knee injury and is out for the season with a torn ACL.

D.K. Metcalf has been one of the top wide receivers in the NFL this year. The Seattle Seahawks’ 26-year-old wideout has recorded 35 receptions on 61 targets for 568 yards (16.2 yards per catch) with three touchdown receptions. It will be interesting to see how the Seattle Seahawks look without D.K. Metcalf for a little bit.

What does the D.K. Metcalf injury mean for the Seattle Seahawks going forward?

The Seattle Seahawks currently hold a one-game lead over the San Francisco 49ers and Arizona Cardinals with their 4-3 record this year. Things could look a bit different next week as they host the Buffalo Bills as if D.K. Metcalf is unable to go, expect to see guys like Laviska Shenault Jr. get more action on the field.Ezoic

There is always the possibility that quarterback Geno Smith is going to be targeting Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Tyler Lockett even more, but potentially not having the top target in the offense makes things tough. This also means Lockett will face the top defensive back and have to do a lot better to get open.

With the injury being a Grade 1 sprain, do not expect D.K. Metcalf to be out for too long. The Seattle Seahawks avoided a potential devastating injury update.
