Seahawks Star Ernest Jones Reveals Epic Celebration Plans After Landing Massive New Contract—You Won't Believe How He's Marking the Occasion!

If you are ever going to get a new contract worth millions of dollars (and good for you if you do), then you should celebrate the same way Seattle Seahawks linebacker Ernest Jones IV did after he was re-upped by Seattle this offseason. He didn't go to a restaurant and blow a bunch of money, or go gambling. He spent his money in the best possible way.

That does not mean he invested it, either. (For those kids out there, investing is wise, we hear.) He might have done part of that. Jones, after all, signed a three-year deal worth up to $28.5 million, but part of that was a $7 million signing bonus. Dinner could be on Jones, but he decided to go in a different direction. He paid it back a bit.

According to a social media post by Jones' agent, the linebacker decided to buy his mom a new car. It was a nice one, too. A Mercedes SUV. In fact, the car even had a bow on it when he surprised her with the new automobile. That is how money should be spent. Giving back to those who gave you so much.

Jones's contract has a cap hit of $5,333,333 in 2025, and the team has an out after one season to save all the rest of the money except for the dead cap, a bit over $4.5 million. If Jones, who has been a solid linebacker in his four years in the league but has not yet been a Pro Bowler, regresses, then Seattle could choose to move on from him.

That is basically the Seahawks' way, however. General manager John Schneider likes doing deals with no guaranteed money after the first year. This makes sense as the player knows he is going to get paid after year one if he does well, but protects the team in case the player does not produce. The NFL is a business, after all.

This is the same kind of contract Schneider has worked out with many players, and that includes 2025 offseason acquisitions Cooper Kupp and Sam Darnold. The Seahawks are going to look quite different in 2025, but if the new players do not work out then the team is going to look more different in 2026.
