Seahawks sign former Cowboys nose tackle to practice squad

The Seattle Seahawks have filled up their practice squad again.

Having let go of defensive tackle Kyon Barrs and offensive lineman Max Pircher on Tuesday, those spots are now occupied by former Dallas Cowboys nose tackle Quinton Bohanna and Nigerian defensive end Kenneth Odumegwu. Pircher was previously on the 90-man roster and the practice squad as an International Pathway Player. Odumegwu replaces Pircher as an IPP allotment, giving Seattle that 17th man practice squad exception.

Seahawks sign 2 players to practice squad

The 6’4, 327-pound Bohanna was drafted by the Cowboys in the sixth round back in 2021. Over his first two seasons he played in 27 games (10 started), recording 29 total tackles and a tackle for loss. Current Seahawks nose tackle Jonathan Hankins superseded him on the depth chart, and he was eventually waived in 2023. Bohanna played three games for the Detroit Lions as a practice squad elevation, then had a brief stint on the Tennessee Titans regular season roster. He’s been a free agent since he was waived last month.

Odumegwu went from a soccer and basketball player to American football in 2022. He was invited to Osi Umenyiora’s NFL Africa Touchdown Camp in Ghana, and made it to the international player combine in London. Odumegwu was allocated to the Green Bay Packers in 2023 and made his organized football debut in preseason, playing 14 total snaps. He spent last season on the practice squad and was let go from the team just two weeks ago.

Bohanna is the main story here, if only because the Seahawks don’t have a traditional backup nose tackle behind Hankins on the active roster, but now they at least have one on the practice squad.
