The Seattle Seahawks have made a few roster moves ahead of their Week 13 matchup vs. the New York Jets.
After sustaining an ankle injury during Sunday’s win over the Arizona Cardinals, right guard Anthony Bradford has been placed on injured reserve. Head coach Mike Macdonald said the injury was “pretty severe,” which prompted the team to move Bradford to IR. Bradford was seen in a walking boot and on crutches after leaving the Cardinals game.
Bradford will be required to miss at least four games before he’s eligible to return off IR. With only six games left in the season, the earliest he could return is Week 17 versus the Chicago Bears.
Linebacker Patrick O’Connell was promoted from the practice squad to take the open roster spot, having played 30 snaps on special teams this season. Now that O’Connell has joined the active roster, rookie running back George Holani has been moved back to the practice squad from practice squad IR. Holani had been on the practice squad IR since Week 3 due to an ankle injury suffered against the New England Patriots.
With Bradford on IR, the Seahawks will have rookies Christian Haynes and Sataoa Laumea compete for the starting job at right guard. Laumea has not played a single regular season snap, whereas Haynes has played at least one snap in all but two games this season.
“Sataoa is someone we’re going to take a long look at as well,” Macdonald said when asked about who would start at the position. “But Christian played winning football for us, but we want him to grow.”
