Alabama football lists 3 players on first South Carolina injury report

Alabama football’s first availability report of South Carolina week confirmed things Kalen DeBoer already said on Wednesday. The report listed three Crimson Tide players to open the week’s reporting.

Just as DeBoer said during the SEC’s coaches teleconference earlier on Wednesday, UA edge Yhonzae Pierre was listed as out. Pierre’s injury is not publicly known, but he posted a photo from what appeared to be a hospital bed on Tuesday.

“Yhonzae will not be with us this weekend, just with his injury,” DeBoer said. “...Haven’t addressed that. Actually didn’t have the information until later yesterday afternoon on exactly where that stood, so expecting him to be out for this weekend, but we’ll see after that.”

Pierre was the only Alabama player listed as out. However, questions remain about several others.

Kendrick Law missed Saturday’s game with what DeBoer has called a “lower-body” injury, which he sustained in the Georgia game. He was listed as questionable on the availability report for the South Carolina game.

New to the report is Kobe Prentice. Law’s fellow wideout took a shot to the head against Vanderbilt, which was first called a targeting, but the penalty was reversed after a replay review.

Prentice was listed as questionable. DeBoer said Wednesday that both Prentice and Law were going through workouts and progressing.

Linebacker Justin Jefferson was taken off the report totally for South Carolina week. He had been listed as probable for the first two SEC games.

Starting this season, the SEC mandated teams submit availability reports each day of conference game weeks, beginning on Wednesday. A final report will be revealed 90 minutes before kickoff.

After losing to Vanderbilt last Saturday, the Crimson Tide will look to respond against South Carolina at 11 a.m. CT Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium. The game will be aired on ABC.
