Seahawks move Abe Lucas to regular season PUP

Fans have wanted to know the status of the right tackle all season, and now they’ll have to wait until at least Week 5.

It’s cutdown day across the NFL, and fans across the league are awaiting news from their favorite team regarding the initial 53-man roster. This means wading through the flood of reports about players being released and waived, while other players are moved to injured reserve or the regular season physically unable to perform list.

For the Seattle Seahawks, one of the biggest question marks of the offseason was the health of right tackle Abe Lucas, who missed three quarters of the 2023 season due to a chronic knee issue. Following two knee surgeries, there was optimism among some that Lucas would be ready for the start of training camp, however that proved not to be the case.

At that point the question then became whether Lucas would be ready for the regular season, and as of Tuesday afternoon, we have our answer.

Thus, Lucas will miss at least the first four games of the season, and will be eligible to play starting with the Week 5 matchup against the New York Giants.
