Seahawks injury update: Uchenna Nwosu hurts knee, Artie Burns carted off

Unfortunately, two Seattle Seahawks players were injured on the defensive side of the ball in the first quarter of Saturday night’s preseason matchup with the Cleveland Browns.

Recently returning from injury, first-string linebacker Uchenna Nwosu was slow to get up after a chop block early in the first quarter by Browns guard Wyatt Teller. Nwosu did jog off under his own power but was later seen getting his left knee wrapped in ice after exiting the medical tent. He made his way back to the locker room shortly after.

Later in the first quarter, cornerback Artie Burns seemingly hurt his left foot in a non-contact injury. He could be seen hopping on his right leg and grabbing his left foot shortly before exiting the field. He was later carted off without his left shoe on. Burns had been competitive in the game prior to the injury with two total tackles – one unassisted.

Nwosu’s injury happened on the only series with defensive starters all game, whereas Burns’ injury was on the second defensive possession of the game. These injuries come just as the Seahawks traded away CB Mike Jackson Sr. to the Carolina Panthers and OLB Darrell Taylor to the Chicago Bears.

We’ll know more about their injuries from Mike Macdonald following the game.
