Seahawks-Giants injury report: Boye Mafe sits out Wednesday walkthrough

Leonard Williams, Uchenna Nwosu, and Jerome Baker were all hypothetical limited participants if this was a full practice.

The first injury report is out for the Seattle Seahawks’ Week 5 home game against the New York Giants.

Having just played on Monday night, Seattle’s Wednesday practice was just a walkthrough. We’ll see them do this again before the Thursday game against the San Francisco 49ers next week. In a world where this was actually a full practice, four would’ve been DNPs. Johnathan Hankins sat out due to personal reasons, while Byron Murphy II and Boye Mafe remain out due to their respective injuries. Mike Macdonald had indicated earlier on Wednesday that Mafe would take part in the walkthroughs, but obviously there was a change of plans. Linebacker Tyrel Dodson being on the injury report as a non-participant is worth monitoring given the hamstring injury for Jerome Baker.

On the positive side, Leonard Williams and Uchenna Nwosu were listed as limited participants. Nwosu has yet to play this season due to an MCL sprain, while Williams missed last week against the Detroit Lions with a rib injury. Nose tackle Cameron Young, designated for return to practice after starting the season on PUP, was listed as limited.

Seven Seahawks were listed as full participants, but I think at this point unless we see them downgraded in the middle of the week, this is code for, “They’re fine.”

Of note on the New York Giants side are sensational rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers not practicing while remaining in concussion protocol, while starting running back Devin Singletary is dealing with a calf injury. If Nabers doesn’t play, then Wan’Dale Robinson (limited with a heel injury) would assume the role of top receiving option for a Giants team that is very top-heavy in terms of targets.
