Vanderpump Rules' Star Scheana Shay Shuts Down Ozempic Speculation: 'It's Called Scandoval'

On her “Scheananagins With Scheana Shay” podcast on May 3, Shay addressed a gossip site’s claim that she and Lala Kent were not paid for their cameos on ‘The Valley.”

“First of all, I don’t ever work for free, so that’s not true,” Shay clarified.

“Someone sent me a screenshot of that, and I can’t speak to all of their cast salary claims, but I’m pretty sure the screenshot I saw was 100 percent inaccurate,” the “Good as Gold” singer added. “What they said about how much certain people are getting paid and significant others and whatnot. Literally none of that was true because these are my friends, and so I do know. Yeah, that was just some people putting it some [expletive] there.”

Shay, Lala Kent, and Tom Schwartz all made cameos on “The Valley” in seasons one and two.

There Have Been Rumors About Scheana Shay’s Pay Rate

Fans on Reddit revealed that podcast host Lara Marie Schoenhals mentioned on the “Sexy Unique Podcast” that she heard that Shay, Kent, and Schwartz weren’t getting paid for their appearances on “The Valley” or the “After Show.”

A post shared by Bravo and Cocktails claimed that OGs, presumably past cast members from “Vanderpump Rules” who moved to main roles on “The Valley,” were paid “double” the amount that the newcomers made. Significant others reportedly were paid half of the lower newcomers’ salary.

The gossip site claimed, “Scheana and Lala weren’t offered a contract,” but that they “got paid per appearance” on “The Valley.”

While there’s no confirmation on numbers, Shay was a veteran cast member on “Vanderpump Rules,” so her salary was likely on the high end of the pay scale when her era of the show ended after 11 seasons.

Duing a May 2024 appearance on “Watch What Happens Live,” Vanderpump admitted that the cast for the VPR reboot was “cheap” compared to the OGs. It’s younger and fresher,” she said. “And it’s a hell of a lot cheaper than paying for those expensive [expletive].”

Scheana Shay Originally Turned Down ‘The Valley’

The Valley cast

Shay previously revealed that she initially turned down a role on “The Valley.” In a previous “Scheananagins”episode she said, “When ‘The Valley’ season 1 talks were first happening, this was kind of in the in between with ‘Vanderpump’ between seasons 9 and 10. And just deciding for me like do I want to join season 1 full-time? I met with everyone, or you know, if season 10 gets picked up, like, am I going to pick a season 1 show or a season 10 successful show? You know, obviously, I stayed on Vanderpump.”

Shay noted that while she made a cameo on “The Valley,” season 1, she filmed more for season 2 and is considered a “friend” on the show.
