The massive overhaul that occurred for the Philadelphia Eagles in the offseason has opened the door for some of the younger players to step up in 2025.
Philadelphia lost key defensive players, including Milton Williams, Josh Sweat, Darius Slay, Isaiah Rodgers, James Bradberry, and C.J. Gardner-Johnson. This will give current Eagles like Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeJean, Sydney Brown, Jalyx Hunt, and others the opportunity to increase their playing time.
The Eagles have one other defender with just 456 career snaps in two years who could be a sleeper pick to dominate the line of scrimmage in 2025.
The Eagles' biggest secret weapon ready to take over in 2025
Bleacher Report writer Matt Holder examined all 32 NFL rosters to pick one player from each who is the best-kept secret going into OTAs. Holder selected defensive tackle Moro Ojomo to earn that title, as he will see more playing time replacing Williams in the rotation.
"This one is a projection, as Ojomo hasn’t gotten much playing time during his first two NFL seasons. However, he was productive on limited opportunities last year, recording 31 total pressures on 268 pass-rush snaps during the regular season, per PFF.
Especially with the Eagles letting Milton Williams walk during free agency, don’t be surprised if the Texas product turns heads with an increased role in Philadelphia this fall."
The Eagles selected Ojomo in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL Draft, as he only started one game out of 25. He has racked up 23 tackles and five quarterback hits in the regular season.
Ojomo stepped up in the playoffs last year, making seven tackles, two tackles for loss, one quarterback hit, and one sack in four games. His increased playing time in the playoffs has become a significant advantage for the 23-year-old lineman.
Early projected depth charts show Ojomo as one of the starting defensive linemen alongside Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis. Ojomo could compete with fourth-round pick Ty Robinson for the starting job and be rotated back and forth.
Philadelphia has been great at discovering talent on the defensive line that has size, but athleticism to pressure the quarterback. Ojomo has not been able to fully show it, but he has show glimpses of greatness.
