The New Orleans Saints will dawn a fan favorite look to compete in a major NFC clash once again in their second game of the 2024 season.
Saints will wear all-black uniform again in Week 2
Derek Carr announced the Saints' uniform selection for Week 2 in a video posted by their team's social media account. The Saints wore the same uniform in Week 1.
The Saints are 55-37 in this uniform combo since 2006, including the playoffs, accordion got John Sigler.
It's a classic, strong look for the black and gold. Outside of their all-white look, many Saints fans think the all-black uniform set looks the best. I tend to agree.
Saints-Cowboys Week 2 storylines to watch
Derek Carr against a daunting Cowboys DL
Carr could be without starting left tackle Taliese Fuaga. He is dealing with back time, considered a true game-time decision.
Even with him, the Cowboys defensive line is among the best in football. Micah Parsons may be the best defender in football, and Trevor Penning will have to deal with him most often on Sunday. He must step up.
As for Carr, he was electric in Week 1. He was efficient and took advantage of every mistakes by the Carolina Panthers defense. In Week 2, he must take care of the football and challenge Dallas on the back end when given the opportunities
Facing CeeDee Lamb with no Lattimore?
Lamb actually most lined up in the slot in Week 1. We could see Alontae Taylor on Lamb most often, even if Lattimore plays.
For now, the Saints' top cornerback is a game-time decision with a hamstring injury. He did not practice all week after suffering the injury in the third quarter of their win over Carolina in Week 1.
With Lattimore on the field, New Orleans is a much more consistent defense. If he cannot suit up in Week 2, the challenge gets even tougher against a top offense in the NFC. Cowboys QB Dak Prescott thinks the Cowboys can improve even more on offense, too.
"Usually that's when teams make that jump, from week one to week two," Prescott told reporters on Thursday. "Understanding that we left a lot of meat out there on the bone and you look at the game and there was as we've said around here, it was a tale of two halves. First half started off slow on the first drive, after that got it rolling, got some first downs scored, got some points and in the second half we weren't able to convert on third down. That was the story for us we weren't able to put that team away when we had the chance."
We will see how the Saints fare against Prescott and co.
Chris Olave must step up in tough matchup
Olave was quiet in the team's blowout Week 1 victory from a receiving production standpoint. He was an impact blocker on a couple big runs, though, including a TD run on a toss play to Jamaal Williams.
In Week 2, expect Klint Kubiak to get him a bit more involved if this game turns into a bit of a shootout between two offenses with a lot of talent at playmaker.
Olave will probably see plenty of Trevon Diggs, the Cowboys' top CB on defense. Diggs gave the young wideout some extra motivation in a press conference this past week.
Plenty to watch for in Week 2 for New Orleans against Dallas. Lock in for a key game between the two.
