Ryan Poles may be sending an obvious smokescreen in Bears' head coaching search

Add this to the never-ending list of rumors, whispers, reports and hunches you've heard, seen and read this week when it comes to the Chicago Bears' head coaching search.

We have seen opinions and reports varying in significance and severity. They are coming in at a rapid pace, it seems. And, it's only going to continue at this level of momentum until the Bears make a decision on their next head coach. That's just the way it goes.

Chicago Bears, Ryan Poles

Sometimes, it's hard to weed through all of the narratives and reports. It can be difficult to find something factual rather than theoretical, in nature.

But, that's why it is best to trust the top NFL insiders, when all is said and done. And, in this case, we're referring to senior NFL insider Dianna Russini of The Athletic, who is as plugged-in as any source around the league.

More Bears news:

Russini appeared on the Pardon My Take podcast Wednesday and was asked about a plethora of topics, including the Bears' current ccoaching search. When it came to speaking, specifically, on the topic of general manager Ryan Poles and his relationship with Kevin Warren, Russini shut down some rumors.

Not only did she state that Poles and Warren were on the same page, but Russini also narrowed down the top candidates.

The 'wide net' approach by Ryan Poles appears to be a mirage in the Bears' coaching search

"Kevin Warren and Ryan Poles are in lockstep in this search and they 100 percent have their eye on Ben Johnson and Mike Vrabel as their top candidates," Russini said.

This week, we have heard that Poles and the Bears are taking a "wide net approach" to their head coach vacancy with Poles stating that there will be some names which surprise us along the way.

The list of coaches to be interviewed is an extensive one, although there remains a top two, not only according to fans, but a source like Russini.

Fans can waste their energy in an uproar over the Bears wanting to interview coaches like Pete Carroll, Drew Petzing, Mike Kafka, Arthur Smith, among others, but it will not matter in the end. This all seems to be one, gigantic smokescreen from Poles and the Bears.

Sure, they want to get a sense of what different approaches may be for prospective coaches coming to Chicago. But in the end? It's all about Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson and former Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel.

As many fans have hoped, these are the top two candidates for Poles and the Bears.

You may read a whole lot of excess content regarding many other candidates, but make no mistake, these are the two Poles appears to be going after above all the others.
