Looking through the lens of C.J. Stroud's impactful rookie season, ESPN's Ryan Clark believes Jayden Daniels deserves even more praise for what he described as a "historic and monumental" season.
"[Daniels] has taken what C.J. Stroud did last year and only stepped it up," Clark said. "This also reminds me of the way Lamar Jackson played last year in his MVP season."
The Washington Commanders' rookie quarterback has passed for 3,530 yards, 25 touchdowns and nine interceptions along with 864 rushing yards and six touchdowns.
Clark also noted that in the postseason, Daniels must continue playing at an extremely high level for Washington to succeed.
Daniels has led the Commanders to their first postseason appearance since the 2020 season when Washington compiled a 7-9 record, good enough for first in the NFC East.
The 24-year-old signal-caller orchestrated Washington's first 11-win season since 1991, the same year they won a Super Bowl.
Clark closed his point on Daniels by stating, "The one thing we won't be saying next offseason is 'Let's see who is the next Jayden Daniels is' because there will not be one."
The Commanders (11-5) close their regular season on the road against the Dallas Cowboys on January 5. Washington holds the NFC's No. 6 playoff seed.
