Running back takes over the top spot in Pro Bowl fan voting

With one week remaining in fan voting for the Pro Bowl Games, two former Alabama running backs remain among the top five vote-getters. But it’s another running back that has taken over the top spot in the balloting over the past week.

The NFL issued its third update on fan voting on Monday, and unlike the first two, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson does not have the most votes. Instead, he has been overtaken by Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley.

Barkley had 108,016 votes, Jackson 106,999 and Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen 101,703.

No. 4 is Ravens running back Derrick Henry after he was second in the first update and third in the second update. Henry had 99,346 votes – 22,764 more than one week ago.

The other former Alabama running back in the top five is Jahmyr Gibbs of the Detroit Lions, who has held the fifth spot in each update. Gibbs had 94,940 votes – 21,323 more than one week ago.

In addition to the top five vote-getters, the NFL also released the leader at each position in each conference in its second report.

Joining Henry as conference position leaders for the second week in a row are two other former Crimson Tide standouts -- former Hoover High School star Marlon Humphrey of the Ravens at AFC cornerback and Brian Branch of the Lions at NFC strong safety.

Fans can vote online for their Pro Bowl favorites through Dec. 23.

Through Dec. 23, fans can vote via X by tweeting the first and last names of a player, tagging the player’s Twitter handle or creating a hashtag from the player’s first and last names. All three methods must include “#ProBowlVote.” On Dec. 22 and Dec. 23, each social-media vote counts as two.

NFL players and coaches will make their Pro Bowl selections on Dec. 27.

The selections made by fans, players and coaches will count one-third apiece toward determining the Pro Bowl rosters for the AFC and NFC teams.

The 7-on-7 flag football game featuring the Pro Bowl players will be held on Feb. 2 at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida, as the culmination of a multi-day AFC vs. NFC competition in which all-stars will demonstrate their football and non-football skills in a variety of competitions.
