The Baltimore Ravens’ elite, 3-time Pro Bowl cornerback, Marlon Humphrey, battled many injuries during the 2023 season. His injuries limited him to ten games, the lowest in his first seven seasons as a pro.
Humphrey underwent foot surgery in mid-August and missed the first four games. He returned in Week 5 and played the next six games.
He then suffered a calf injury in Week 10 and missed the next two weeks. He returned in Week 13 and played the next four games. He reinjured his calf in Week 17 and missed the regular-season finale and the Divisional Round but played in the AFC Championship game in a limited fashion.
He is still recovering from his injuries.
The Baltimore Ravens’ elite CB missed part of OTAs and mandatory minicamp
Marlon Humphrey missed most of voluntary organized team activities (OTAs) and the final two days of mandatory minicamp. He explained his reasoning.
“I did Day 1 (of minicamp), and then I took two vet rest days,” Humphrey explained. “I’m kind of on the NBA routine sometimes. Took two rest days, but man, I’m excited.”
The Ravens have a month off until veterans report to training camp on Saturday, July 20. Their head coach expects him back for training camp.
John Harbaugh expects their cornerback to be ready for training camp
“Just nagging things,” Harbaugh said. “He should be ready for training camp. Shouldn’t be a problem.”
The Ravens prepared for the possibility of Humphrey missing time in 2024 by drafting two cornerbacks.
Cornerback #1
The Ravens drafted Nate Wiggins in the 1st round, 30th overall. He played three seasons of college football for the Clemson Tigers and recorded three interceptions, two pick-sixes, and 21 pass deflections in his career, and an All-ACC First Team honors in 2023.
Wiggins will likely compete with Brandon Stephens for the starting job.
Cornerback #2
The Ravens drafted T.J. Tampa in the 4th round, 130th overall. He played four seasons of college football for the Iowa State Cyclones and recorded three interceptions and 19 pass deflections in his career and an All-Big 12 First Team honors in 2023.
He will likely start the season as a backup but could see playing time if anyone struggles or gets injured.
