A source denied the recent report that Teresa Giudice and Melissa Gorga will “bury the hatchet” to save the Real Housewives of New Jersey, and hinted that at least one of them must go.
For the first time in the show’s history, Teresa chose not to film with Melissa, the wife of her brother Joe Gorga, except for a handful of group scenes. Their feud seemingly trickled to the rest of the cast, causing an irrevocable divide. Host Andy Cohen has indicated that the entire cast could be replaced next season.
“The rumor that Teresa and Melissa are going to drop their feud could not be further from the truth,” said a production insider, speaking to OK! Magazine.
The source emphasized how Melissa recently stated she’d leave the show if Teresa returned.
“[And] Teresa wants nothing to do with Melissa or her brother,” the source continued. “She made that clear this season and that’s not something she’s going to change her mind on.”
Given the cast’s ‘Team Melissa’ versus ‘Team Teresa’ mentality, the insider expressed that a sudden reconciliation wouldn’t make sense.
“If Teresa is asked to return to the show, Melissa is not going to be asked back,” said the source. “The two of them returning is just not happening.”
The recent report about the sisters-in-law “putting their fiery feud on hold” came from Life & Style.
“This is not about mending broken hearts or repairing their shattered relationship. Nope, it’s all about business,” shared the source at the time. “The show’s future is hanging by a thread. If Teresa and Melissa don’t bury the hatchet, the entire franchise could come crashing down.”
The source claimed the sisters-in-law “can’t stand each other,” but they’re “smart enough to know they have to work together if they want to keep those paychecks rolling in.”
The Real Housewives of New Jersey is reportedly on hiatus. Before the recent reports surfaced, castmate Frank Catania shared that he heard Teresa was asked to leave.
If this is the case, it seems likely that Teresa will quietly exit the show – without revealing that the network wanted it.
