The Los Angeles Rams had several opportunities to lose, but ended up finding a way to win as Matthew Stafford threw a bomb to Demarcus Robinson that beat the Seahawks in overtime, 26-20.
A hard-fought match between two NFC West rivals ended as it should: The Rams breaking Seattle’s heart.
LA struggled to get off the ground through two quarters as they only put up three points in the first half of play. In the second half the Rams as a whole played better, but still made some head scratching mistakes (which included allowing a blocked punt) as this game stayed close between two tough NFC West teams.
To be fair, Seattle didn’t play their best game and they had several miscues throughout the contest, but Seattle did close out the first half with two quick touchdowns to take a halftime lead and put pressure on the Rams and Sean McVay. Puka Nacua was also ejected in this one, and there were plenty of times that LA’s team played sloppy and Seattle made the Rams pay for their crucial errors.
In the second half, Matthew Stafford and LA’s offense showed some life by scoring 17 unanswered points, and took a 20-13 lead after the longest interception return in the franchise’s history.
LA’s offense failed to close out the game as they continued to ask Chris Shula’s defense to basically seal the deal when LA punted back to Seattle at the two-minute warning with the score still stuck at 20-13. Smith would then march his Seahawks down the field in about 60-seconds to tie the game at 20-20 with about one minute to go in regulation and the game would end up going to overtime.
In overtime, Seattle won the coin toss giving them the chance for an opening touchdown and the win but it was Shula’s defense who forced a stop on a fourth and short to once again give Stafford and McVay the opportunity to take this win.
The Rams’ offense would do just that with a Stafford to Demarcus Robinson passing score to shock Seattle and move up in the NFC West standings.
